Multi-billionaire Elon Musk recently sounded off on MSNBC over its coverage of the critically acclaimed Trump rally at Madison Square Garden. While conservatives have praised the event, which drew thousands of patriotic Trump supporters in the heart of deep blue New York City, some of the left have compared it to a Nazi rally that was hosted at the venue decades ago.
A recent MSNBC segment commented on the Trump rally, attempting to draw similarities to a 1939 rally that was hosted at Madison Square Garden in which supporters of Adolf Hitler displayed Nazi iconography and voiced anti-Semitic rhetoric. The left-leaning network claimed that Trump’s current rhetoric of law and order and mass deportation is the latest form of “extremism.”
Conservative commentator Collin Rugg shared a clip of the broadcast from the network, writing, “MSNBC directly compares Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally to a 1939 N*zi rally, directly compares Donald Trump to Adolf H*tler.” Slamming the mainstream media for its claims that Trump is a fascist, Rugg added, “You don’t hate the media enough.”
“But that jamboree happening right now, you see it there on your screen in that place is particularly chilling because in 1939, more than 20,000 supporters of a different fascist leader, Adolf H*tler, packed the Garden for a so-called pro-America rally,” a quote from the MSNBC segment read. “Holocaust survivor Jerry Wartski was in attendance at the rally this evening, along with other Jews who were supporting Trump,” Rugg added, debunking the idea Hitler is a Nazi.
Elon Musk weighed in under Rugg’s post, sounding off on MSNBC. “Wow, MSNBC is utter scum of the Earth,” Musk wrote. Rugg replied, urging the Tesla founder to buy the news network, as he did with Twitter in late 2022. “You should buy MSNBC,” he said to Musk. Such a move would allow Musk to expand his free speech initiatives directly into the mainstream media.
The American Tribune recently reported on Musk’s comments when he spoke at a Trump rally when the former president returned to Butler, Pennsylvania. “We had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was fist pumping after getting shot,” he said, seemingly referencing Biden’s past struggles with the stairs of Air Force One while applauding Trump’s bravery after being shot. “America is the home of the brave, and there’s no truer test than courage under fire, so who do you want representing America?” he continued.
The multi-company CEO emphasized, “This is no ordinary election. The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech. They want to take away your right to bear arms. They want to take away your right to vote effectively. You’ve got 14 states now that don’t require voter I.D. California, where I used to live, just passed a law banning voter ID for voting. I still can’t believe that’s real. So, how are you supposed to have a good, proper election if there’s no ID? It’s meaningless.”

Musk added, “Free speech is the bedrock of democracy. If people don’t know what’s what’s going on, if they don’t know the truth, how can you how can you make an informed vote you must have free speech, in order to have democracy. That’s why it’s the First Amendment. And the second amendment is there to ensure that we have the First Amendment.”
