US Attorney Attacked by Knife-Wielding Illegal Alien on the Streets of Sanctuary City, Takes Heroic Action to Save Citizen Lives

In an unsurprising but still infuriating incident out of Albany, New York, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York was attacked by a knife-wielding, previously deported illegal alien with a lengthy rap sheet. The illegal alien apparently pulled out a knife and lunged at the US attorney in the attack.

Such is what the DOJ announced in a hair-raising public statement released two days after the June 17, attack, noting that US Attorney John Sarcone was rattled by the attack but unharmed, and that the illegal alien has been detained and will face attempted murder charges for the horrifying assault.

Beginning the press release, the DOJ briefly described how the attack began and who the illegal alien involved in the incident was, writing, “Tuesday June 17, after leaving his office in downtown Albany, United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III was the victim of a life-threatening incident. Saul Morales-Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador, who entered the United States in 2021 after a prior deportation, lunged at Sarcone while brandishing a knife and yelling aggressively in a foreign language Sarcone could not readily identify.”

Continuing, the statement noted that the US attorney fled from the knife-wielding illegal alien, and that the illegal kept shouting at him as he did so. It provided. “Sarcone ran to the lobby of the Hilton Hotel and Morales-Garcia stopped and still shouting in a foreign language turned and started to walk away.”

Sarcone got law enforcement involved, and then did his best to keep him around so that he wouldn’t be able to escape. Noting that bravery on Sarcone’s part, the statement said, “Sarcone immediately contacted Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr. Sarcone went back to the street and maintained a safe distance and yelled out to Garcia-Morales to gain his attention to prevent Morales-Garcia from disappearing as Sarcone believed an innocent person would be killed by Morales-Garcia.”

That precipitated another knife attack, with the illegal apparently making threatening gestures while keeping up the screaming and shouting, all while Sarcone tried to keep his attention so that law enforcement could arrive and detain him. The statement provided, “Before law enforcement arrived, Morales-Garcia charged at Sarcone again screaming and yelling at Sarcone in a foreign language while wielding the knife to make a slitting-the-throat gesture at Sarcone.”

Sarcone then again fled from the knife-wielding illegal, but had fortunately delayed him enough that the police were able to arrive in time and take him into custody. The statement provided, on that point, “Sarcone again ran to the lobby of the Hilton where again Morales-Garcia stopped, turned and began to walk away but was apprehended when Sheriff’s deputies arrived. Morales-Garcia was taken into custody and the knife was recovered.”

Fortunately left uninjured in the attack, Sarcone issued a statement about what happened, saying, “I felt an obligation to the public as the chief Federal law enforcement officer in the district that includes the city of Albany. I feared for my life but I couldn’t let this individual harm and potentially kill others.”

The illegal alien will now face serious charges over the incident, including an attempted murder charge. The DOJ provided, “Morales-Garcia was charged with attempted second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and menacing in the second degree and remanded without bail.”
