Conservative CNN pundit Scott Jennings recently fact-checked a liberal panelist on claims about X, citing the network’s own reporting. The panel was discussing X, which the left has slammed as a right-wing echo chamber in light of Elon Musk buying the platform and promoting freedom of thought while refusing to censor.
Jennings cited a report that found X to be the “ideologically balanced” social media platform in operation. As expected, this claim received immediate pushback from the co-hosts, who refused to believe X is anything more than a right-wing platform influenced by Musk, who endorsed Trump and will serve in his administration. However, Jennings informed the panel that CNN’s own reporting had cited X as a balanced platform.
“Also, I heard we’ve seen about x I saw a survey this week. It’s now the most ideologically balanced user platform,” Jennings began. A fellow panelist quickly interjected, “Oh come one. Scott, stop it, it’s too early. I just sat down. I’ve only been here for two minutes…you cannot say that.” As the panel demanded to know the source for his claim that X was the most balanced platform, Jennings exclaimed, “We reported it on this network!” The co-host pushed back, refusing to believe the report.”It’s not accurate, and you know it.”
Another panelist chimed in, “Can I reframe it a different way? Because the what the site changed radically right? So whether you think their voices in our it is somehow more balanced. Now that’s fine, but no doubt must influence is profound, and that you open it up, and now you’re there with his opinion, and he is now part of this administration. So does anyone else think think that there should be this greater concern about billionaires purchasing media companies?”
A clip of the discussion has gained traction on social media, garnering reactions from conservatives. End Wokeness shared the clip and summarized the interaction as, “CNN: “Who’s your source that 𝕏 is more balanced than any other platform?” Jennings: “Uh, CNN” Another person called out the quote from the panelist raising concerns about billionaires buying social media companies. They said, “”Does anyone else think there should be this concern about billionaires, purchasing media companies?” -CNN, a media company owned by billionaires.”
The American Tribune reported on post-election commentary from Jennings in which he gave his fellow co-hosts a reality check on CNN. He said, “This is a mandate to do what you said you were going to do, get the economy working again for regular working-class Americans, fix immigration, try to get crime under control, try to reduce the chaos in the world this. This is a mandate from the American people to do that.”
Explaining the support for Trump, he added, “I think I’m interpreting the results tonight as the revenge of just a regular old working-class American, the anonymous American who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to they’re not garbage, they’re not Nazis. They’re just regular people who get up and go to work every day and are trying to make a better life for their kids, and they feel like they have been told to shut up when they have complained about the things that are hurting them in their own lives.”

Jennings also called out the mainstream media, asserting it must reevaluate the narratives it has pushed. “I also feel like this election, as we sit here and pour over this tonight, is something of an indictment of the political information complex. We’ve been sitting around it for the last couple of weeks, and the story that was portrayed was not true,” he said.
