Tyson Foods has recently hired a number of illegal immigrants who have filtered into the state of New York upon unlawfully entering the country. The food giant has hired dozens of migrants that have successfully obtained work permits, where the company has expressed interest in hiring more.
The meatpacking company is collaborating with Tent Partnership for Refugees, an organization that was started by Chobani yogurt founder Hamdi Ulukaya, to hire newly arrived illegal immigrants in New York. Reportedly, Tyson met with 17 migrants from Venezuela, Mexico, and Colombia at Chobani’s offices in Manhattan last month. The company allegedly hired them to work at Tyson’s Humboldt, Tennessee plant. As of last week, Tyson claims to have hired at least 70 more illegal aliens.
In total, Tyson is reported to employ roughly 42,000 migrants and refugees. However, there are no available statistics on how many are living in the United States illegally. Moreover, the company has been highly vocal about seeking to continue hiring from this demographic. “We would like to employ another 42,000 if we could find them,” stated Garrett Dolan, a human resources leader at Tyson.
“We’re recognizing there’s not a lot of people that are going to be working labor-manufacturing jobs that are American,” Dolan said while claiming that many of the new hires “are going to come from refugees and immigrants, so we’re now in the business of strategically thinking that through.”
The human resources employee at Tyson further explained the supposed level of loyalty from these groups of people in the U.S. “They’re very, very loyal,” Dolan said. “They’ve been uprooted and what they want is stability — what they want is a sense of belonging.”
However, Americans across social media have criticized the food company for taking a seemingly anti-American labor stance toward its employment. “Tyson is selling out Americans and hiring illegal immigrants,” Paul Szypula posted X. “This is blatantly America-Last.” Szypula included a picture of various Tyson-owned brands, calling for a boycott against the company.
“Tyson is closing its facility in Perry, Iowa and laying off its 1,200 workers. Instead, they plan to hire thousands of new illegals in states like New York. #BoycottTyson. Pass it on,” posted the popular conservative X account End Wokeness.

As millions of illegal immigrants have poured over the border under the Biden administration, not all migrants are well-meaning individuals seeking a better economic situation. Border Patrol has noted that it is consistently apprehending criminals and bad actors. Given the nearly 2 million known “gotaways” Border Patrol has documented, this draws into question who is entering the United States.
The American Tribune reported on comments from Chief Jason Owens, who highlighted the disturbing nature of the hundreds of gang members they have apprehended attempting to illegally enter the U.S. The high ranking chief made another post on X, highlighting the apprehension of hundreds of known gang members along the El Paso and Big Bend Sectors. “3/11: USBP agents in El Paso & Big Bend Sectors arrested 3 gang members attempting to illegally enter the country. So far this FY24, USBP has apprehended 215 subjects with gang affiliations. Paisas (47), MS-13 (30), & Surenos (26) are the Top 3 gangs,” he said.
