Two illegal immigrants were recently charged with the murder of a 63-year-old man whose body was discovered tied up in his Chicago home on Sunday. The victim, George Levin, was found in his Norwood Park home, with duct tape covering parts of his face and mouth. Subsequently, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy, determining that Levin died as a result of multiple injuries from an assault. The death was ruled as a homicide.
According to reports, the two suspects in custody are adult illegal immigrants from Venezuela and Ecuador. Officials believe the individuals unlawfully crossed the southern border along Texas in the summer of 2023 under the Biden-Harris administration. The Chicago Police Department has identified the suspects as 21-year-old Geiderwuin Bello Morales and 29-year-old Jefferson Ubilla-Delgado.
Both suspects have been charged with one count of murder and robbery of a victim with a handicap or over 60 years of age. According to arrest records on the Chicago Police website, Bello Morales had been arrested on January 12 for “child luring.” Records state he was released the very next day, just days before being arrested for the gruesome murder.
The murder occurred just as Trump administration border czar Tom Homan and the Justice Department had conducted an immigration enforcement operation in the city. However, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has vowed not to cooperate with the large-scale deportation efforts of the Trump administration, maintaining he would continue the city’s sanctuary practices.
“We’ll continue to protect civil and human rights, and we welcome all individuals and families who want to work, live and thrive here in our beloved city. The welcoming city ordinance is a law, and it is a law of the land,” he said during a recent press conference. “Here in Chicago, we will uphold it, along with the complimentary Illinois Trust Act to ensure that our immigrant communities are safe.”
Johnson continued, “Furthermore, we intend to continue to continue to empower all of our communities throughout our city with crucial information and resources. At this time, on the city’s website chicago.gov we offer a know your rights resource guide, providing all information, tools, and context, that our immigrant communities should know the full force of government, from my office, city departments as well as all of our agencies.”
However, Homan has warned local leaders not to interfere with his operations. “I’ve said 100 times in the last week, don’t cross that line. It’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal illegal alien from immigration authorities – don’t test us,” he asserted. Referencing the Denver, Colorado mayor who claimed he was willing to go to jail to push back against Trump, the border czar added, “You’re absolutely breaking the law. All he has to do is look at Arizona versus U.S. you’ll see that he’s breaking law. But look me and the Denver mayor, we agree on one thing, he’s willing to go in jail.”

“I’m willing to put him in jail because there’s a statute of his title eight in the United States, code 1324, triple i,” Homan stated, “What it says is it’s a felony if you knowingly harbor and conceal from immigration authorities, there’s also a felony to impede a federal law enforcement officer, so if he doesn’t want to help that’s fine, he can get the hell out of the way, but we’re going to go do the job.”
