In a powerful series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard exposed the huge problem of Deep State leakers within the federal government, particularly the “intelligence community” leaking information that harms American national security abroad. She vowed to hold the leakers accountable.
As background, leaks were a massive problem during the first Trump Administration. While they have so far been somewhat less of a problem from this administration, the issue has been growing and has already led to some big issues. For example, leakers within the government, maybe the FBI, were aiding gangs like Tren de Aragua in avoiding ICE.
In any case, Director Gabbard announced that the Intelligence Community (IC), thought by many MAGA voters to be a locus of Deep State influence within the government, has been engaging in politically motivated leaks of important information. She said, “Our nation’s Intelligence Community must be focused on our national security mission. Politically motivated leaks undermine our national security and the trust of the American people, and will not be tolerated.”
Continuing, she noted that such leaks have become all too common, as leakers don’t fear retribution. She said, “Unfortunately, such leaks have become commonplace with no investigation or accountability. That ends now. We know of and are aggressively pursuing recent leakers from within the Intelligence Community and will hold them accountable.”
Director Gabbard went on to give “Some recent examples of unauthorized leaks within the IC.” Listing them, she said, “A leaker who has been sharing classified information with the Huffington Post,” “A leaker within the IC sharing information on Israel / Iran with the Washington Post,” “A leaker within the IC sharing information about the U.S. – Russia relationship with NBC,” and “A leaker sharing information on NCSC activities and actions with The Record.”
Concluding, Director Gabbard said that those who did the leakign would be held accountable and face the consequences of their breaking the law, by which she clearly meant they’d face some serious jail time. She said, “Any unauthorized release of classified information is a violation of the law and will be treated as such.”
Commenters on her post chimed in to say they agreed, demand harsher retribution, and give examples of people they thought should face the hammer of the law. One such commenter, for example, said, “AG Pam Barr should start prosecuting people who committed sedition and/or treason during Trump 1.0 and make an example of them. That would help with the leaking problem.”

Others left comments like “Comey and McCabe both proudly leaked info to the press. Should have been charged” and “Hunt them all down and book ’em. Every last one. The statute of limitations for each crime is 5 to 10 years, depending on the law invoked. For those who do it serially or as part of a conspiracy, the statute of limitations can go back much further.”
Still another commenter called for treason charges against those leakers in the intelligence community, given the risks they create for American service members, saying, “Anyone leaking information should be charged with treason. This puts our brave men on the field in huge danger and our National Security at risk. Expose every leaker.”
