Recently, Tucker Carlson was joined by famous rapper Ice Cube in an interview where the two toured South Central Los Angeles’s crime-ridden, chaotic streets. During the segment, the rapper took Carlson through a “tougher neighborhood” where Ice Cube claimed politicians have done nothing to mitigate the problems faced in the community.
Carlson and Ice Cube drove through an area of Los Angeles full of endless homeless tents and abandoned run-down buildings. Ice Cube told Tucker, “Politicians only really pay attention to the people who give them money. Everybody else is kind of extra.” Watch the segment below posted to Tucker Carlson’s Twitter account, captioned, “Ep. 10 Stay in your lane: our drive through South Central LA with Ice Cube. The bit discussed how little had changed in the area since Barrack Obama had taken office, especially regarding racial issues and quality of life. Carlson then addressed the George Floyd riots, which further destroyed the city. “And then came George Floyd. In the beginning of what we were told was a second Civil Rights movement. If there was going to be liberation in the wake of the Floyd riots, this is where you’d see the effects,” Carlson said.
Carlson and the rapper then touched on the issue of Black Lives Matter and the billions in corporate donations the movement has received. The segment claims that BLM has received nearly $50 billion in donations from corporations. However, Ice Cube claims this expensive social activism hasn’t been meaningful and hinted that it promotes corruption.
“Whenever you do that, most of the time, it’s a lot of people siphoning that money off the top. And the kicker is a lot of people saying, ‘I’ll give them money.’ But they don’t even give the money,” the rapper claimed when discussing the topic.
The two also discussed the woke NBA and its social justice initiatives in recent years. Tying the basketball league into the broader discussion of woke corporations that donate money to Black Lives Matter, Ice Cube claimed the NBA doesn’t actually take substantive action behind the claims it makes. Instead, he alleged the NBA only does woke things, such as putting “black lives matter” on basketball jersey’s as a way to virtue signal.
“Without a doubt, you know the NBA is full of great slogans and they write Black Lives Matter on the court and they do all those things, but pretty full of s**t when the rubber meets the road,” Ice Cube said. “I mean, you know, it’s as easy as saying, We’re gonna donate 100 million. You know, it’s like an easy thing to do. All you got to do is call up the graphics guy and approve the comp.”
The famous Straight Outta Compton rapper has also addressed cancel culture, slamming those who try to silence the opinions of others. “Say what you want to say, and to hell with the consequences. You got to be willing to fight for your rights and fight for what you believe in. And if you’re a person who believes in freedom of speech, you have to fight and say what you feel and let the chips fall where they may and stand on that.”
