In a significant announcement, Trump’s Head for Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Scott Turner, revealed that he was ending a Biden-era loophole that gave illegal immigrants federal funds to buy houses. Instead, Turner promised to follow through on the president’s promise to put America first by closing the loophole.
For context, President Donald Trump has made his “America First” agenda a major priority during his second term, by cutting programs that prioritize illegal immigrants at the expense of American citizens. Trump promised to end the woke corruption of the federal government, such as programs that would distribute federal funds to criminals before citizens.
The major announcement began when the HUD secretary closed the Biden loophole and promised to stop subsidizing illegal immigration. He said, “Hi. This is Scott Turner. I’m here today with my dear friend and colleague, Secretary Kristi Noem, and we’re here signing the partnership to ensure that the wasteful misappropriations that have been going to assist illegal aliens in our country will no longer go to assist them, but instead to assist the American people in particular.”
Building on his argument, Turner pivoted to explain that Americans are facing a rising cost of living, and instead of addressing the problem, Biden decided to give handouts to illegal immigrants. The HUD secretary added, “As it pertains to housing, we have a housing affordability crisis in our country, and so today, we are ensuring that American taxpayer dollars are used to assist the American people. Unfortunately, under the Biden administration, they prioritized illegal aliens over American families.”
Then the brave HUD official ensured government funds would go to deserving citizens, not illegal immigrants. He said, “And so this memorandum is going to be a partnership that we will form to make sure that these housing programs are going to only people who deserve it, people who are in this country who need assistance, who want a better life for their families.”
He concluded his remarks by reiterating Trump’s promise to the nation: “So thank you for being here today. This is a wonderful partnership between departments to do what we can to make sure we follow through on President Trump’s promise to the American people. So with that, I will sign for the Department of Homeland Security.”

To support Scott Turner’s argument, General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing Jeffrey D. Little wrote a letter that explained the Biden loophole. He wrote, “The Administration has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding economic opportunities for U.S. citizens and lawful Permanent Residents while ensuring that federal benefits, including access to FHA-insured Mortgages, are reserved for individuals who hold lawful Permanent Resident status.”
Concluding, Little wrote an insightful explanation about how illegal immigration prevents government services from helping the needy. The letter reads, “Currently, non-permanent residents are subject to immigration laws that can affect their ability to remain legally in the country. This uncertainty poses a challenge for FHA as the ability to fulfill long-term financial obligations depends on stable residency and employment.”
