Trump Vows “No Tax on Social Security” Coming Soon

In some absolutely massive news for senior citizens announced on Truth Social, President Donald Trump announced that he is still pushing for, outside of the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” an end to taxation on Social Security income. Such was a push he initially made on the campaign trail, and some thought had been forgotten or discarded as other help for seniors was put in the current tax bill.

However, it would appear that it has not been forgotten, as on Saturday, May 31, President Trump announced on Truth Social that he still has a number of balls in the air to lessen the taxation burden placed on the average American. In the post, he said that ending taxation on tips and overtime is already happening, ending taxation on Social Security is a work in progress, and a large deduction that would limit taxation generally for average people.

In that earth-shaking post, a rejection of the higher taxation hoped for by many in Washington, President Trump said, “Like the other two, TIPS AND OVERTIME, No Tax on Social Security is being done also, but in a different form, a large deduction after which many will have no tax to pay. Thank you!”

This is far from the first time President Trump has pushed for those tax cuts. Speaking in April of this year, for example, he said, “In the coming weeks and months, we will pass the largest tax cuts in American history — and that will include no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, and no tax on overtime,”

Similarly, speaking on Tuesday, March 4, President Trump made the same pledge, saying he would aid seniors in a big way by ending taxation on Social Security. He said, “I’m calling for no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on Social Security benefits for our great seniors.”

That all follows similar pledges he made during rallies he held in the midst of the 2024 presidential campaign. For example, in a Kingston, NC rally held just before election day, he said, “My plan will massively cut taxes for workers and small businesses, and we will have no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and for our seniors, no tax on Social Security benefits. And our seniors need it. Our seniors because they were — most of the seniors that are on a fixed income. I’m not, but many of them are.”

Further, he made the same pledge about eliminating taxation on Social Security income in one of his Project 2025 videos, saying that such taxation is relatively new and is particularly harmful to seniors when paired with rampant inflatioin of the sort America saw under the Biden Administration. He said,  “This cruel double taxation of social security benefits only came into existence in 1984…And thanks to inflation under Harris, this tax has hit the seniors very, very hard, every single year.”
