Speaking on his Truth Social social media platform, President Trump announced that Calfornia and its woke governor, Gavin Newsom, would face large fines for refusing to obey the Trump Administration’s orders regarding transgender athlete competition in young women’s sporting events.
As background, what sparked President Trump’s fury was that a transgender athlete in California won two events in the state’s track and field championship. That student athelete, named AB Hernandez, who competed on behalf of Jurupa Valley High School, won both the girls’ high jump and triple jump at the state championship on Saturday, May 31.
Because letting a transgender athlete compete in the women’s championship was in direct contravention of his executive order on the subject, President Trump sounded off on Truth Social and vowed that California would face stiff fines for refusing to follow the anti-woke law.
In that fury-filled post, which came early in morning on Tuesday, June 3, President Trump said, “A Biological Male competed in California Girls State Finals, WINNING BIG, despite the fact that they were warned by me not to do so. As Governor Gavin Newscum fully understands, large scale fines will be imposed!!!”
In the executive order that serves as the basis for his administration’s policies in these issues, President Trump first noted that the issue has been growing in scale in the past few years, saying, “In recent years, many educational institutions and athletic associations have allowed men to compete in women’s sports.”
Continuing, he described the matter as entirely “demeaning” and “unfair” to those young women who want to participate in sporting competitions. He said, “This is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, and denies women and girls the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports.”
Further, he brought out the existing law to back up his position, saying, “Moreover, under Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX), educational institutions receiving Federal funds cannot deny women an equal opportunity to participate in sports. As some Federal courts have recognized, “ignoring fundamental biological truths between the two sexes deprives women and girls of meaningful access to educational facilities.” Tennessee v. Then, announcing the change in policy, he announced that the federal government will yank funds from those schools that refuse to protect women’s sports, saying, “Therefore, it is the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which results in the endangerment, humiliation, and silencing of women and girls and deprives them of privacy.”
Concluding that introductory part of the order, the president noted that it is the policy of his administration that women’s sports will be protected, saying, “It shall also be the policy of the United States to oppose male competitive participation in women’s sports more broadly, as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”
