President Donald Trump took to Truth Social where he issued a warning to fellow Republicans about the danger posed by Michigan radical leftist Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, who recently won the Democratic Party nomination for a key Senate race in Michigan, should he end up winning the general election in November.
“For our Great Republican Senators, friends of mine “all,” please be advised that the Communist Dumocrat Senate Candidate from Michigan, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, is touting, as perhaps his single most important point, the Termination of the Filibuster,” Trump wrote in his post. “I watched yesterday, and he’s gone Termination CRAZY.”
He then went on to explain what would happen if El-Sayed wins in the midterm race in November and it would be a disaster for Republicans who are seeking to gain a stronger hold over both chambers of Congress. “If he succeeds, the Dumocrats will gain 4 Senators, 8 Congressmen, many Electoral and Popular Votes, a stacked Supreme Court with 23 Justices, and I will be, sadly, despite the great job we are doing, the last Republican President!”
El-Sayed defeated Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), who is a known moderate backed by the Democratic Party establishment, paving the way for a final showdown for the seat against Republican Mike Rogers, a former member of the House of Representatives. El-Sayed won by a slim margin, which signals that voters in the battleground state are still struggling to nail down the direction of the party.
According to a report from The Guardian, several other progressive candidates took home wins in their primaries, such as climate activist William Lawrence and Donavan McKinney, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Both have been endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in their races for seats in the House.
President Trump won Michigan in the 2024 presidential race and in his first bid for the White House in 2016. However, former President Joe Biden won the state in 2020. Both of the state’s senators are currently Democrats, which means it is critical to Democrats’ hopes of taking back control over the U.S. Senate. El-Sayed formerly worked as a public health official who centered his campaign on Medicare for All, a universal healthcare model.
During his campaign, El-Sayed also stated that he’s not a socialist, but a capitalist who “understands how capitalism works” and has expressed a strong desire to regulate monopolies. “They spent an unprecedented amount of money to beat us,” the Michigan Democrat said during a press conference following his primary win. “But it turns out the commercials are the part of the television show most people don’t want to watch.”

“We took on a machine. You’re not supposed to be able to beat $70m of outside spending, a record amount of money spent in a campaign against a Democrat in a primary, in any campaign. You’re not supposed to be able to beat that. And what we showed is that the power of our many is greater than the power of their money,” he went on to say.
