Former President Donald Trump recently sparked outrage among the mainstream media after he made an appearance at a local McDonald’s in Pennsylvania. Demonstrating his unmatched charisma and genuine ability to connect with average Americans, Trump donned an apron and got to work serving up fries to customers in the drive-thru.
However, high-ranking Democrats and the mainstream media did not appreciate the campaign stop in the critical battleground state, where the former president appears to be gaining momentum. For example, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) joined MSNBC to criticize the former president for engaging with locals during the swing state campaign stop.
“There is no logic to it, it’s a stunt. He has not put forth an economic agenda. He, as you know, appears to be not well,” Lee said. Furthermore, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” suggested that Trump was pushing “phony McDonald’s sales” while stepping behind the counter at the fast food restaurant. Moreover, Rachel Maddow also claimed that Trump “pretended to work at McDonald’s.”
Moreover, CBS News anchor Norah O’Donnell slammed the Republican presidential candidate for allegedly “staging a campaign stunt” at the restaurant while applauding Vice President Kamala Harris for similar campaign stops where she was “targeting disaffected Republican voters.” Similarly, staunch Trump critic on ABC’s “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg blasted Trump for not putting a hairnet on, suggesting the event was “staged.”
Jon Stewart, host of the “Daily Show” also took the opportunity to criticize former President Trump. “The poor, sweet media – oh, poor, sweet media. They know they’re mad, they’re just not exactly sure which thing they should be maddest about anymore. But I can tell you one thing, media, it probably shouldn’t be the McDonald’s thing,” he said.
Stewart continued, “What a pleasant counterpoint.” However, he also admitted that he doesn’t know how to operate a fryer, so he can’t rail against Trump too much. “Look, I’m all for criticizing Donald Trump, but I got to tell you, I also don’t know how to work the fryer at McDonald’s and would be incapable of doing so,” the host said.
Additionally, progressive “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested that the former president was “making fun” of average Americans during his stop. “He put on his little McDonald’s costume … Halloween came early for Donald Trump, because we know that man has never worked a day in his life,” Ocasio-Cortez said at a recent Harris-Walz campaign event.

Regardless of the incessant criticism Democrats and the mainstream media have hurled at Trump, the owner of the McDonald’s located in Feasterville gave a statement to Fox News Digital applauding the former president’s visit. “As a small, independent business owner, it is a fundamental value of my organization that we proudly open our doors to everyone who visits the Feasterville community. That’s why I accepted former President Trump’s request to observe the transformative working experience that 1 in 8 Americans have had: a job at McDonald’s,” said owner and operate Derek Giacomantonio.
“As a former crew member, I can attest this job is more than burgers and fries, but a meaningful pathway to opportunity. Local Pennsylvania franchisees like me are proud to provide more than 25,000 jobs across the state and I’m honored to showcase my restaurant and the incredible impact of the franchise business model here today,” he continued.
