The Trump Administration is digging into the massive fraud that was allowed to occur over the Biden years, and the results of that investigation continue to be absolutely horrifying, with the government finding massive amounts of fraud, theft, waste, and abuse. The Small Business Administration (SBA), in fact, just found $400 million more in fraud in Minnesota alone.
Such is what SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler announced in a post on X made in the evening on Thursday, January 1, explaining that the SBA is investigating Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud in Minnesota, where the state’s Somali population has already been caught in various types of horrifyingly massive fraud involving state and federal welfare and aid programs.
As background, the PPP loans were created by the CARES Act during the pandemic, and were meant to help small businesses, non-profits, and the self-employed keep their workers employed by covering payroll, rent, utilities, and other expenses. The loans were potentially fully forgivable if used correctly, and so attracted vast amounts of fraud, as fraudsters created fake companies to steal massive amounts of cash from the government.
In any case, SBA Administrator Loeffler, taking to X to announce that vast amounts of fraud had been discovered, began her post on the matter by saying, “Over the last week, SBA has reviewed thousands of potentially fraudulent pandemic-era PPP and EIDL loans approved in Minnesota.”
Continuing, she noted that the SBA has found nearly 7000 PPP fraudsters in Minnesota alone, and collectively they stole a whopping $400 million from the program. She said, “Today, our agency took action to suspend 6,900 Minnesota borrowers amid suspected fraudulent activity. In total, these borrowers were approved for 7,900 PPP and EIDL loans worth approximately $400M.”
Adding to that, Loeffler explained that the SBA was banning everyone suspected of fraud in this case from any access to SBA programs in the future, including any disaster relief programs. She said, “These individuals will be banned from all SBA loan programs, including disaster loans, going forward.”
Further, she noted that all of the fraudsters who can be held criminally liable here are being referred to federal law enforcement for prosecution, saying, “We will also refer every case, where appropriate, to federal law enforcement for prosecution and repayment.”

Concluding, she vowed that her SBA would work to ensure that the American people see real results and those who committed the unconscionable crimes are held accountable for it. She said, “After years, the American people will finally begin to see the criminals who stole from law-abiding taxpayers held accountable – and this is just the first state.”
Commenters on her post were largely supportive of the effort. One such commenter said, for example, “I am beyond ready to see people taken in handcuffs straight ti prison, stripped of every asset they own, and repayments made back to the American taxpayers. It is absurd that this was going on for so long and no one was held accountable. The penalties should be HARSH!!!!”
Others, however, called for much more harshness, saying, “Once you get $400M you don’t have much reason to care if you aren’t allowed to borrow more, especially when you know you can set up shell corporations to continue to plunder the American taxpayer. I don’t want empty words anymore. I want to see thieves paraded in handcuffs on their way prisons for extended periods. Get something done.”
