Donald Trump blasted Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, in a short interview with Fox News Digital on March 6, 2025. Green disrupted Trump’s historic address to Congress and was ejected by the Sergeant at Arms. The democratic representative was eventually censured for his actions. The punishment was supported by all Republican representatives, and 12 Democrats crossed the aisle to condemn Green.

In his interview, the President said Green “should be forced to pass an IQ test because he is a low IQ individual, and we don’t need low IQ individuals in Congress.” “He should be censured,” said Trump. “Nobody takes him seriously,” He concluded by stating, “He is an embarrassment to Congress, but a much bigger embarrassment to the Democrats. A fool and a clown.”

The controversial representative said he was”willing to suffer whatever punishment is available to me. I didn’t say to anyone, ‘don’t punish me.’ I’ve said I’ll accept the punishment.” He explained “But it’s worth it to let people know that there are some of us who are going to stand up against this president’s desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”

After he was officially censured, Green said, “I heard the speaker when he said that I should cease. I did not, and I did not with intentionality. It was not done out of a burst of emotion,” the 77-year-old democrat explained. “I think that on some questions, questions of conscience, you have to be willing to suffer the consequences. And I have said I will. I will suffer whatever the consequences are, because I don’t believe that in the richest country in the world, people should be without good healthcare.”

In response to the drama, Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., filed a resolution to punish the House Democrats who opposed Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, ‘s censure on March 6, 2025. Ogles announced his decision to file the resolution in a thread on X: “Today, a group of House Democrats broke decorum during the censure of Rep. Al Green and, after multiple warnings, refused to heed @SpeakerJohnson‘s order.”

“I am drafting privileged resolutions to remove each of them from their committees. If you want to act like a child in the Halls of Congress, you will be treated like a child,” the republican wrote.“On Tuesday, President Trump delivered one of the greatest speeches in American history during his Address to Congress. Today, the House passed a motion to censure Rep. Al Green, who violated basic House decorum and decency when he disrupted @POTUS during his address.”

“There must be accountability. The American people deserve better than petty, juvenile stunts in one of the most sacred chambers of government,” Ogles said to conclude his post. He added additional context to Fox News Digital, “We have a country to run. The failed policies of Joe Biden is why they lost the House, why they lost the Senate, why they lost the presidency. They can lick their wounds all day, but they still have to behave on the House floor.”
