Trump Gloats about “BIG WIN” Over Gavin Newsom as Court Vindicates Him

In the wake of a federal appeals court ruling in his favour on the issue of federalizing and deploying thousands of members of the California National Guard to Los Angeles to put down the anti-ICE riots that were ravaging the city, President Donald Trump gloated and declared a “BIG WIN” over the woke California governor.

As background, the courtroom victory came in the form of a late-night ruling on Thursday, June 19, in which the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals announced that President Trump had likely acted within his statutory authority when he federalized the 4,000 CA Guard troopers and sent them into LA to crack down on the unrest in the city.

In the ruling, the Ninth Circuit judges wrote, “Under a highly deferential standard of review, Defendants have presented facts to allow us to conclude that the President had a colorable basis for invoking” the law allowing him to federalize the Guard.  Continuing, it noted that the riotous activities engaged in by protesters had “significantly impeded the ability of federal officers to execute the laws,” thus justifying the president’s decision.

Thus, the panel of judges wrote, “We conclude that it is likely that the president lawfully exercised his statutory authority,” as the law allows him to federalize and deploy state National Guard troopers when doing so is necessary to ensure that federal agents can “execute the laws of the United States.”

The president chimed in on his Truth Social social media platform to sound off on Newsom and cheer his courtroom win. Beginning, he declared that the ruling was a “big win” for his administration, writing, “BIG WIN in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on the President’s core power to call in the National Guard!”

Continuing, the president explained that not only is the California governor an awful incompetent, but the general question presented by this situation is a massive one for the nation as a whole, as it determines whether the president can stop the chaos allowed by many blue jurisdictions. He wrote, beginning that point, “The Judges obviously realized that Gavin Newscum is incompetent and ill prepared, but this is much bigger than Gavin.”

Getting to his reasoning for thinking this to be an issue bigger than just Gavin Newsom, the president explained it is so momentous “because all over the United States, if our Cities, and our people, need protection, we are the ones to give it to them should State and Local Police be unable, for whatever reason, to get the job done.”

Concluding, he thanked the judges for giving the country a good ruling that will prove helpful to ordinary Americans and those who would defend them, saying, “This is a Great Decision for our Country, and we will continue to protect and defend Law abiding Americans. Congratulations to the Ninth Circuit, America is proud of you tonight!”

Newsom, for his part, took to X and posted an image saying, “The court rightly rejected Trump’s claim that he can do whatever he wants with the National Guard and not have to explain himself to a court. The President is not a king and is not above the law. We will press forward with our challenge to President Trump’s authoritarian use of U.S. military soldiers against citizens.”
