New polling data delivered some good news for the Trump administration as nearly four-fifths of voters in swing states across the country support deporting illegal aliens who have been convicted of crimes. Public Opinion Strategies completed a poll of 1,100 likely voters in several 2026 target swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
The survey discovered that voters are strongly behind President Donald Trump’s moves to enforce immigration law. A total of 79% of voters feel that illegal aliens who have already been convicted of a crime should be required to leave the country.
Only 13% believe they should be allowed to stay. “This is a broad consensus viewpoint: No voter group tested in this survey believes that illegal immigrants convicted of a crime should remain in the United States,” Gene Ulm, a partner with the polling firm, went on to say in a memo explaining the survey data.
The memo then said, “Voters believe the primary immigration enforcement focus should be on human traffickers (26 percent) and public safety threats/criminal organizations (23 percent) over drug smugglers (7 percent), employers who hire unauthorized workers (6 percent), recent unlawful border crossers (1 percent), and visa overstays (1 percent). About one-third (34 percent) said “all of the above” should be the top priority for federal immigration enforcement.”
According to Breitbart News, the Public Opinion Strategies poll’s results closely resemble those of other polls, which also found the American people strongly supporting Trump’s immigration agenda. The report cites that 73% of registered voters support booting violent illegal aliens out of the country and 52% support deporting all illegal aliens, regardless of their criminal record.
This polling data was collected between January 28-29, 2026. Harvard CAPS and the Harris Poll conducted a survey of 2,000 registered voters. The 52% support includes 49% support from independents. On a slightly negative note, the Harvard-Harris poll also shows that a majority of Americans aren’t on board with how the enforcement is seen in Minneapolis.

A total of 58% stated that ICE has been using “too much force” in Minneapolis, while 57% believe ICE has “gone too far” in the city. A poll by Siena College from the New York Times shows less favor for the deportation of illegal migrants, but shows that many voters are uncomfortable with the reality of how the deportations are being carried out. Fifty percent of those who responded to the Siena poll stated that they support the “Trump administration’s deportations of immigrants living in the United States illegally.”
And only 36% said they approve of how ICE is “handling its job.” A Marquette poll that was released on February 4, 2026, discovered that 56 percent of adults in the United States are in favor of deporting illegal migrants, while only 44% were against it.
The same poll revealed that 37% said the shooting of Renee Good was justified, with 62% saying that it was not. Seventy-six percent of Republicans believe it was justified as Good refused to comply with law enforcement orders and attempted to hit an officer with her vehicle. Twenty-one percent of independents believe the incident was justified, while only 5% of Democrats say it was justified.
