Following last week’s controversial presidential debate, the liberal media pundit class reached a near-unanimous agreement after the controversial presidential debate that Vice President Kamala Harris had walked away as the victor. However, post-debate data suggests there is a starkly different opinion among independent and undecided voters.
According to a report from Reuters, some viewers explained how they were unsold on Kamala Harris after the debate. Out of ten Americans polled about their opinion after watching the whole debate, six voters stated that they would definitely or most likely vote for former President Trump. In contrast, only three said they would support Vice President Harris where one remained unsure.
Mark Kadish, 61, a voter from Florida, said, “I still don’t know what she is for. There was no real meat and bones for her plans.” Similarly, Robert Wheeler, 48, a voter from Nevada, explained how Harris lacked substance during the debate. “I felt like the whole debate was Kamala Harris telling me why not to vote for Donald Trump instead of why she’s the right candidate,” Wheeler said. He indicated that he now felt more likely to vote for Trump, claiming the Republican candidate better articulated his policy stances.
Echoing the same sentiment, left-leaning network CNN recently aired a surprising critique of Kamala Harris that sounded like it would have come from a conservative news outlet. During a segment titled “Unanswered questions in the Harris-Trump debate,” host Jake Tapper listed several issues with Harris’ performance against former president Donald Trump.
“Vice President Harris began the debate by punting the first question on the economy,” Tapper said before airing a clip of Harris dodging a key question. “Do you believe America took four years ago? ” David Muir asked the vice president. “So I was raised as a middle class kid, and I am actually the only person on the stage who has a plan that is about lifting up the middle class and working people of America,” Harris said.
“It went on from there, despite the economy being the number one issue facing the country, the sitting Vice President generally reverted to talking points about a few of her policy proposals,” Tapper continued. “Even Harris allies today are saying that she needs to talk more about what she will do for Americans if elected,” he said, pointing out that Harris needs to address substantive policy positions instead of solely attacking Trump.
Furthermore, ABC News has caught substantial backlash. Many Americans have felt the debate was a biased attack against Trump, with the moderators unfairly fact-checking the former president and refusing to hold Harris to the same standard. Television personality Dr. Phil hosted a town hall event after the debate to gauge the general public’s perception of the outcome of the head-to-head matchup between Trump and Harris.
One of the town hall participants said, “I actually think that it wasn’t fair for the exact opposite reason. I think that Trump was actually thinking versus Kamala kept speaking over him in the alternate light.” Dr. Phil then asked, “So okay, and how about the moderators? Do you think they were being fair?” The individual replied, “I don’t just because I feel like Trump kept getting asked harder questions versus Kamala kind of got thrown softballs easier to answer.” Polling the rest of the audience, McGraw asked, “Okay, how many of you agree with that aspect?” Seeing the hands fly up he said, “Oh wow, that’s almost everybody. Well, not everybody, but 75% of you.”
