Recently, former President Donald Trump delivered an update regarding his selection of a running mate amid growing speculation over who it might be. However, he decisively stated that it would not be Nikki Haley after reports from Axios indicated she had made the list of potential choices.
“Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. However, Axios had previously indicated that, despite the rocky relationship between the former president and Haley, sources familiar with the matter claimed Trump was considering her as his vice president.
“The GOP rivals’ relationship remains chilly. But the sources said Trump could pick Haley if he were convinced she’d help him win the presidency, avoid a potential prison sentence and cover tens of millions in legal bills if he loses,” Axios reported. “Republicans close to both campaigns believe it’s in Haley and Trump’s mutual interests to reconcile, despite The report said that there were advantages for Haley too.”
Axios noted that representatives from both Trump and Haley had declined to comment when asked about the matter. Shortly after Axios published the article, Trump posted his swift correction on Truth Social, personally signing off with his initials.
Recent reports indicate that Nikki Haley would be taking a new position at the Hudson Institute after her failed presidential bid, challenging President Trump. CEO of the Washington D.C.-based conservative think tank John P. Walters explained the institute’s anticipation to have her in their ranks.
“Nikki is a proven, effective leader on both foreign and domestic policy,” according to a statement from Walters. “In an era of worldwide political upheaval, she has remained a steadfast defender of freedom and an effective advocate for American security and prosperity. We are honored to have her join the Hudson team.”
Haley was known to disagree with America-first stances on foreign policy, arguing with fellow GOP primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during debates. Haley suggested America has a duty defending its alliances around the world, while other members of the Republican party have drawn more attention to domestic issues.
“When our policymakers fail to call out our enemies or acknowledge the importance of our alliances, the world is less safe. That is why Hudson’s work is so critical,” Haley said. “They believe the American people should have the facts and policymakers should have the solutions to support a secure, free, and prosperous future. I look forward to partnering with them to defend the principles that make America the greatest country in the world.”
The American Tribune reported late last year on other rumors that suggested Trump might pick Nikki Haley as his V.P. However, Trump also firmly put this speculation to rest then. Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time, “Americans For Chinese Prosperity (Action?) is a Globalist CON JOB that is big on giving our Country away to China and other countries throughout the World. They Endorsed “Birdbrain” because that has always been where her sympathies lie. She is a Globalist RINO, much like “Rob” DeSanctimonious, but not a smart one, and I got to see that up close and personal. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
