In the wake of Sen. Thom Tillis announcing his retirement after he got absolutely wrecked by President Trump, the president took to his Truth Social platform to celebrate his victory over the North Carolina RINO and to issue a warning to all like him who want to stand in the way of the MAGA agenda.
As background, it all began when Sen. Tillis, a moderate Republican from North Carolina, signalled his opposition to ushering the BBB, or “Big Beautiful Bill” through the Senate. Trump then slammed him online, writing, “Looks like Senator Thom Tillis, as usual, wants to tell the Nation that he’s giving them a 68% Tax Increase, as opposed to the Biggest Tax Cut in American History! At the same time, he is unable to understand the importance of a Debt Extension, which Republicans gave to the Democrats just prior to the November 5th Election, because of its significance, and how important it was for the future of the U.S.A.”
Following that up with a second post on the subject, the furious president threatened to help lead a primary against the moderate North Carolinian senator so that he would be kept out of office and thus be unable to further derail the MAGA agenda as he was then-currently trying to do with the BBB.
Saying as much, the president wrote, “Numerous people have come forward wanting to run in the Primary against ‘Senator Thom’ Tillis. I will be meeting with them over the coming weeks, looking for someone who will properly represent the Great People of North Carolina and, so importantly, the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Taking a break from attacking Sen. Tillis to get in a jab as libertarian-minded Sen. Rand Paul for also voting against the BBB, President Trump asked Truth Social what is wrong with him, writing, “Did Rand Paul Vote ‘NO’ again tonight? What’s wrong with this guy??? DJT”
The president then attacked the two of them together in yet another furious Truth Social post, saying, “Thom Tillis has hurt the great people of North Carolina. Even on the catastrophic flooding, nothing was done to help until I took office. Then a MIRACLE took place! Tillis is a talker and complainer, NOT A DOER! He’s even worse than Rand ‘Fauci’ Paul!”
Tillis, that same night, decided to just give up and announce that he would be retiring rather than any longer trying to manage things in DC. He said, announcing his retirement, “As many of my colleagues have noticed over the last year, and at times even joked about, I haven’t exactly been excited about running for another term. That is true since the choice is between spending another six years navigating the political theatre and partisan gridlock in Washington or spending that time with the love of my life Susan, our two children, three beautiful grandchildren, and the rest of our extended family back home.”

Continuing, he noted that he is retiring and indicated that he will, in the months before his term is up, be something of a loose cannon. He said, “It’s not a hard choice, and I will not be seeking re-election. I look forward to having the pure freedom to call the balls and strikes as I see fit and representing the great people of North Carolina to the best of my ability.”
Trump, gloating at his very public win that was something of a humiliation for Sen. Tillis, excitedly noted that the RINO senator is giving up rather than face a primary challenger backed by MAGA. He said, “Great News! ‘Senator’ Thom Tillis will not be seeking reelection.”
He then took the opportunity to issue, in a similarly timed post, a warning against all the other RINOs, saying, “For all cost cutting Republicans, of which I am one, REMEMBER, you still have to get reelected. Don’t go too crazy! We will make it all up, times 10, with GROWTH, more than ever before.”
