Trump erupted after Fox News’ Peter Doocy aired an unchallenged interview with Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), blaming Republicans for the recent government shutdown. Kelly, speaking back before the shutdown was ended, had claimed Speaker Johnson could and should end it “as early as Monday” with real negotiations, warned millions could die, while dismissing GOP concerns about benefits for illegal immigrants as a “red herring.” Naturally, FNC airing such tripe was seen as it aiding and abetting the Democratic Party’s propaganda effort.
In his statement on the matter, President Trump blasted Fox for letting Kelly make his absurd accusations unopposed, and he accused the network of hiding his 65% approval polls while hyping bad ones and pandering to “political correctness.”
In any case, the spat began when, seemingly unopposed by the allegedly conservative host, Kelly claimed, “We could sort this out next week sometime or as early as Monday if Mike Johnson would bring back the Republican House, we get together and have a real negotiation about how to bring down these high costs for the American people.”
Building on his previous allegations, the Democrat continued his screed, insisting, “Millions of people will lose their healthcare or go bankrupt. When people lose their healthcare, they die. That is the reality of the situation that we’re in,” Kelly asserted.
Stepping in, Doocy asked, “Does that include federal and state?” To which the Democrat replied, “Well, the federal law is that undocumented individuals do not have access to Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, even the Affordable Care Act. That’s the law. So this is a red herring from my Republican colleagues.”
It was to that nonsense that Trump replied with a vengeance. Kicking off his rebuttal with well-deserved snark, Trump asked, “Why is Fox News and Peter Doocy putting on Democrat Senator Mark Kelly to talk about, totally unabated or challenged, Healthcare? The FAKE SPIN is so bad for Republicans that it is hard to believe that we WIN.”
Continuing his comments, the president laid into Fox News Channel generally. “It will be very unfair, in the future, when they don’t have “TRUMP” to fight for them. Therefore, we should fix it, NOW! I’m watching this Interview. It just doesn’t end. Fox should either get on board, or get off board, NOW, but at this point, it just doesn’t make any difference to me,” Trump snapped.

Building to a crescendo, he said, “They suck up the Ratings because of us, and then spin them in the Democrats’ direction. They refuse to put up Polls that correctly show me at 65% in Popularity, a Republican RECORD, but if I have a fake bad “Poll,” many of which are done by Fox (One of the worst “Pollsters” out there is the FoxNews Poll), they put them up immediately, and with gusto.”
Concluding his comments with evident scorn, Trump blasted the network, saying, “Republicans are so tired of this fight with Fox always trying to be so ‘politically correct!” Thank you for your attention to this matter.” The shutdown was eventually ended without the healthcare benefits for illegal aliens that Democrats had wanted, or the Obamacare subsidies.
