Former President Donald Trump hosted a massive rally in the Bronx this past week, drawing thousands of energetic Trump supporters to the heart of New York City. In a worrying sign for the Biden campaign and the Democratic Party, Trump has seemingly received an impressive amount of support in the Big Apple, given that it is such a liberal stronghold.
According to the Trump campaign, 25,000 people showed up to the rally. “25,000 PATRIOTS IN THE BRONX FOR @realDonaldTrump!” the Team Trump account posted on X. The post shared several photos showing a never-ending sea of MAGA supporters watching the former president speak.
Trump told the blue state attendees at the rally, “We rebuilt the military. We cut taxes — the biggest tax cut in history, the biggest regulation cut in history. We defeated ISIS,” Trump continued, promising supporters, “The minute crooked Joe Biden shuffles out the door, I will rapidly rebuild the greatest economy in the history of the world.”
He further emphasized how great the economy was under his presidency compared to the challenging macroeconomic backdrop millions of Americans suffered through during the Biden administration. Trump stressed that it didn’t matter what the color of someone’s skin was, but he would fight for everyone as Americans.
“Look, we had the greatest economy in history…It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or brown or white or whatever the hell color you are. It doesn’t matter. We are all Americans, and we’re going to pull together as Americans,” Trump said
He then illustrated how Joe Biden’s policies are explicitly impacting black and Hispanic communities, pointing out issues such as declining real earnings and rampant illegal immigration that is creating competition for housing and jobs.
Trump said, “Real earnings for African Americans are down 5.6 percent. African Americans are getting slaughtered. Hispanic Americans are getting slaughtered. And these millions and millions of people that are coming into our country, the biggest impact and the biggest negative impact is against our black population and our Hispanic population, who are losing their jobs, losing their housing, losing everything they can lose.”
“They’re the ones that are affected most by what’s happening — not only the fact that you’ve lost the use of your schools, your parks, your hospitals,” he continued. Furthermore, the crowd broke into several chants, such as, “Four more years!” “We love Trump!” and “Build the wall!”
As Trump has been stuck in New York City fighting the hush money case brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, he has taken the opportunity to get out in New York City and interact with local residents.
Addressing the immense support he has received in New York, Trump even suggested that he may “make a play” to take the state from Biden in the upcoming election. “We’re very close in New York I understand and we’re leading in the country by a lot. A poll just came out a little while ago, as you saw yesterday, that we have we’re up in every swing state and up by a lot in every swing state so I think we’ll do very well and we’re gonna make a play for New York,” he said.
