With corruption remaining in the news as the Trump Administration continues digging into what was going on under the Biden Administration and the slew of NGOs, agencies, and like entities that were able to profit significantly off fraud and corruption under it, comments made by President Trump about former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi back in 2024 have resurfaced. Those comments had to do with her husband’s allegedly corrupt stock trading.
As background, back in the early fall of 2024, Paul Pelosi, the husband of the former Speaker of the House, was revealed to have unloaded a whopping 2,000 shares of stock in Visa, the credit card company. His sale of the large block of stock came just weeks before the Department of Justice announced that it was suing Visa for allegedly monopolizing the debit market.
In response to the disclosure revealing the sale and the seeming insider nature of it, a massive outcry rose against insider trading effected by members of Congress and their family members. President Donald Trump, then running for the presidency once again, gave a press conference in which he called for Pelosi’s prosecution over the trade.
Beginning the press conference, which took place in Trump Tower in late September of 2024, now-President Trump noted that Paul Pelosi’s sale of the Visa stock came shortly before the suit against Visa from the DOJ. He said, setting up the allegation of corruption, “Nancy Pelosi has a little problem because her husband sold their Visa stock – they had a lot of Visa stock – one day before it was announced that Visa is being sued by the Department of Justice.
Continuing on that point, he noted, though he conflated Nancy Pelosi with her husband Paul and somewhat exaggerated the time period, that the Pelosi family had sold a massive block in stock shortly before the DOJ suit against Visa, saying, “Think of that. Nancy Pelosi sold vast amounts of Visa stock one day before the big lawsuit that we all read about a few days ago.”
Adding to that, the then-GOP presidential nominee insisted that there was much more going on with the trade in a massive amount of stock than pure luck, insinuating that really some form of insider trading corruption was to blame for the transaction. He said, on that note, “You think it was luck? I don’t.”
He then added the really important comment, which was that the former Speaker of the House should be investigated and prosecuted for the stock trade executed by her husband, as it hinted at noxious insider trading. He declared, “She should be prosecuted. Nancy Pelosi should be prosecuted for that.”

Adding to the credibility of allegations like those hurled at the Pelosi family by the president is that, when Paul Pelosi sold the Visa stock, there was no publicly revealed indication that the DOJ would be launching an antitrust suit. However, when the investigation was revealed, the stock fell by nearly 6%.

While those comments came nearly a year ago, the idea has remained in the public mind because the president has continued repeating similar allegations about Rep. Pelosi, and the daily deluge of corruption tales that have come out as the Trump Administration has investigated what had been going on has kept the general issue relevant. As recently as May of 2025, the president told Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” that Nancy Pelosi needs to be investigated for corruption. Watch him here:
