Trump’s rally in Pickens, South Carolina, was full of powerful comments from the former president and vows from him to take radical action against the Deep State in the DC Swamp. It was also absolutely massive, with estimates of the crowd’s size showing it to be about 1500% bigger than the town’s population.
That’s because the town of Pickens, South Carolina, has only 3,400 residents and the crowd that showed up to see and hear Trump was estimated to be, by Pickens police chief Randal Beach, “somewhere between 50-55,000” people.
South Carolina is an important state for GOP presidential candidates to campaign in because it is the first in the South, a GOP stronghold, so victory there likely means victory in all of Dixie and signals strength in the general election. For Trump, who already dominates the polls, a victory in South Carolina would dash the hopes of many 2024 hopefuls alleging that he no longer has the support of the average GOP voter.
Many others have, for those reasons, held events in South Carolina. But, predictably, none of them drew anywhere near the same size of a crowd that Trump did with this rally.
Trump, thanking the crowd for showing up to support him and expressing his love of being around such normal, all-American patriots, said, “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be to kick off the Fourth of July weekend than right here on Main Street, with thousands of hardworking South Carolina patriots who believe in God, family and country.”
The Make America Great Again Inc. PAC, Fox News Digital reports, said that so many people showed up to see and listen to Trump because no one else in the American political scene has “delivered for the American people” in the ways that Trump has.
Further, Make America Great Again Inc. PAC CEO Taylor Budowich gave a few examples of how former President Trump’s administration delivered for Americans. Pointing to the Supreme Court’s recent decisions in particular, Budowich said, “The Supreme Court decisions ending racist college admissions, protecting religious liberty, and stopping an illegal student loan forgiveness scheme were a reminder of how President Trump kept the promises he made to voters.”
Budowich then added that the tens of thousands of members of the crowd that turned out to support Trump did so on a brutally hot South Carolina summer day, saying, “Mind you, the tens of thousands of patriots that turned out in Pickens, South Carolina did it on a day with temperatures over 90 degrees. The Trump train has left the station and is not stopping until President Trump is seated behind the Resolute Desk.“
Perhaps most notable in the speech was Trump’s vow that his gloves are coming off in his war with the Deep State, as the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago home and DOJ indictment of him in Florida showed him what time it is and what extreme measures need to be taken to protect the American people from the ravages of a vicious regime bent on destroying the America we know and love.
