President Donald Trump’s administration, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has begun “culling the ranks of career officials,” in their ongoing battle with the deep state. Bondi fired over 200 Department of Justice officials, including Maurene Comey, the daughter of the disgraced former FBI Director James Comey.
For context, Rubio has also been working towards this goal by firing more than 1,300 State Department workers and slashing programs that do not align with American values. These sweeping cuts signal a bold purge of entrenched government waste and disloyalty.
As we reported, Charlike Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, announced Comey’s firing on social media, posting, “BREAKING: Pam Bondi has fired Maurene Comey, daughter of James Comey, from her job as a prosecutor in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, per Politico. She worked on the prosecutions of Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, and Sean “Diddy” Combs.”
Reacting to her firing, the entitled former prosecutor wrote an open letter to her coworkers, which said, “Do not let that happen. Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else. It has been an honor to fight for those principles by your side.”
Explaining the raft of woke judges fired by the Trump administration, Andrew Arthur, a former immigration judge working for the Center for Immigration Studies, said that the Democrats were the ones to use this tactic first. He explained, “Nothing explains the huge discrepancy between judges in the same court who have wildly different asylum grant rates. It is incumbent upon the Trump administration to examine to see why this exists.”
Offering more context, he added, “We need to identify where the fraud is, and root it out … because, it is a slap in the face of the American people to allow people to fraudulently take advantage of our humanitarian instincts. Firing immigration lawyers is a norm that the Democrats have created, and now it’s adversely affecting their judges.”
In another front of Trump’s all-out assault on the deep state, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that nearly 1,400 State Department workers would be let go. He announced, “Today is the day. Under @POTUS
’ leadership and at my direction, we are reversing decades of bloat and bureaucracy at the State Department. These sweeping changes will empower our talented diplomats to put America and Americans first,” in a July 11, 2025, social media post.

Explaining the issue these firings will solve, Rubio added, “In its current form, the Department is bloated, bureaucratic, and unable to perform its essential diplomatic mission in this new era of essential diplomatic competition.”
Offering his solution, the Secretary of State said, “That is why today I am announcing a comprehensive reorganization plan that will bring the Department into the 21st Century. This approach will empower the Department from the ground up, from the bureaus to the embassies.” Adding, “Region-specific functions will be consolidated to increase functionality, redundant offices will be removed, and non-statutory programs that are misaligned with America’s core national interests will cease to exist.”
