Trump Admin Cracks Down on NGO Spending, Cuts Ties With Over 3 Dozen Leftist Groups

The Trump administration’s Interior Department is taking a proverbial machete to its connection with three dozen progressive groups that it says do not align with its values, which will ultimately save millions of dollars. A total of roughly $4 million would have been sent off to organizations with ties to various left-wing causes ranging from environmental activism to programs steeped in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

DEI policies were extremely popular during former President Joe Biden’s time in the White House. A press release from the Interior Department, which is helmed by Doug Burgum, formally announced it would be “ending partnerships with groups that no longer represent the priorities of the American people.” The severed connections are part of a larger initiative started by the administration as it takes a deeper look at government waste, fraud, abuse, and the endless contracts that were a product of them.

An internal review was conducted of the Interior Department, which uncovered a staggering 2,000 active contracts with outside organizations. After further investigation, the review determined that many of these groups either did not align with the values of the American people or “provide a clear benefit,” which is what put them and their contracts on the chopping block.

According to a new report from Breitbart News, one example of an organization benefiting from an agreement with the Interior Department is the Hispanic Access Foundation, which openly promotes scholarships being handed out to students who are in the country illegally. In a press release from 2021, Maite Arce, president and CEO of HAF, referred to “Dreamers” as one of the “most vulnerable communities” during the COVID-19 pandemic due to their “limited resources.”

“When DACA was first established, it provided Dreamers the ability to go to school, have a job, have a driver’s license, etc. Now, many Dreamers are in school, have a degree, or are serving in the military. They are a part of our community, and contribute to our country’s prosperity,” she went on to say. Several other groups were also mentioned in the press release, including Conservation International.

This group claims that its mission to phase out the use of fossil fuels completely. Another organization that is getting cut is The Cultural Landscape Foundation, which seems to have a really big issue with the construction of President Trump’s ballroom and several other projects, which were highlighted in a Fox News report.

“Another group on the department’s list was The Cultural Landscape Foundation, which it said has a master cooperative agreement with the NPS “to conduct a variety of educational and cultural support activities.” The organization has opposed several administration initiatives, including suing over changes at the Kennedy Center, criticizing plans for a White House ballroom and highlighting cultural landscapes and historic sites it says are threatened by administration actions through its Landslide 2026: Erasing American History initiative.” Fox’s report said.

Other federal agencies have taken similar measures, working to streamline departments in order to make them more efficient and cost American taxpayers less. One example is the Environmental Protection Agency under the leadership of Lee Zeldin. The EPA announced a plethora of organizational improvements that would ultimately save taxpayers a staggering $300 million a year.
