“The View” is arguably one of the most polarizing shows on daytime television. Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and the other co-hosts regularly insult conservatives and the GOP while vapid members of the studio audience hoot and cheer along. The cast includes an alleged conservative in an attempt to lend some semblance of fairness and non-partisanship, but the overall tone of the show is hostile to non-liberals.
In an unusual move, Friday on the show “Triumph The Insult Comic Dog” was the guest, and the canine insult comic did not hold back as he roasted the ladies with some searing one-liners. The long-running puppet dog act, played by Robert Smigel of Saturday Night Live fame, has a reputation for classic burns and wicked observations, all behind the facade of a cigar-chomping dog.
Despite how easy that is, Triumph wasn’t strictly on the show to roast the ladies. He also took aim at members of the GOP, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy. However, the funniest, most satisfying barbs came at the expense of Joy Behar and company. When talking about Behar, Triumph quipped: “I was at Joy Behar’s 80th birthday party. I performed. Oh, what a night it was! It was open bar and open casket!”
Triumph, never on to shy away from crude humor, then unleashed an off-color joke about Behar and Hillary Clinton: “Joy, you and I both got so drunk, we were fighting over who got to sniff Hillary Clinton’s chair.” He then followed up with another shot at Behar’s age: “Joy, you realize you’re 81, you’re old enough to run for president… and to watch The View! You’re right in the demographic of The View now!” As other cast members cringed and the audience struggled with how hard to laugh, the insult comic dog took aim at the show in general.
With a joke that appeared to make light of how the show allegedly was hostile to other conservative female members, Triumph said: “I kid. I love The View. It’s inspiring, it’s empowering. It’s a place – women feel safe here, except from other women.” Triumph appeared to be referencing Meghan McCain, who claimed it was a toxic workplace after she left in 2021. Triumph wasn’t done with Behar quite yet.
Taking a swing at both Behar and The View, Triumph offered: “I kid. I love The View. It’s inspiring, it’s empowering. It’s a place – women feel safe here, except from other women.” The comic dog then took aim at the token conservative on the panel. When speaking to Alyssa Farah Griffin, he said: “This show wasn’t affected by the actors’ strike, was it?… I think you’re all excellent actors, like the way you four girls all act like you’re interested in Alyssa’s opinions.” The liberal cast members have a reputation for belittling and shouting down whoever the token conservative is, and Triumph said about Griffin: “She likes it. That’s one for the conservatives. And that’s the only one!”
Triumph went on to claim he was going all out to appear on “Dancing With The Stars” before offering comic observation on Ramaswamy and DeSantis. Smigel, the genius behind the long-running puppet skit, appeared as himself in the next segment and promoted his new movie “Leo.” It was an unusual and refreshing bit that leveled some well-deserved barbs at the leftist ladies of “The View.”
