A biological male transgender soccer player has quit his team after a slew of opponents refused to play matches against his team after he broke the knee of an opposing player with brute force. According to opponents, asking women to play against a biological male in a contact sport such as soccer is putting the players at risk, and therefore, they would rather add a loss to their record than risk injury.
Francesca Needham is a 30-year-old soccer player whose crushing tackle led to a broken knee for the opponent. While some online have chided opposing teams and called them scared of losing to Needham’s team, they insist that this decision was born purely out of concern for the health and safety of the women in the club.
Needham posted a statement on Facebook regarding the teams that refuse to play games against the team. In the statement, she explained that she sees this as a case of discrimination and, although Needham is now quitting soccer, Needham will be a legal case brought against those opponents.
Needham Wrote, according to Breitbart, “This unfortunate circumstance has prompted me to investigate pursuing a case of discrimination, as I believe it represents a breach of a code of conduct regarding diversity and inclusion, as well as safeguarding of adults in football established by both the Football Association and the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women and Girls League.”
Needham wasn’t done there, explaining, “It’s disheartening to acknowledge that this situation contradicts everything in the diversity and inclusion policies, given that I have diligently met every single requirement set out by the Football Association to play.”
Lastly, Needham wrote, “I sincerely hope that this issue of perceived discrimination against me can be resolved peacefully and promptly.”
A coach of an opposing team spoke to Breitbart News about the situation that his players faced when tasked with playing against Needham, though the manager did ask to remain nameless.
He said, “It was obvious. Unfortunately, the FA allowed it to happen but didn’t let anyone know. She’s quite a big, strong player. People have refused to play because they are worried about the safety of the players… My players were backing out of challenges as, psychologically, it’s quite a big thing when you are playing against a biological man, it’s quite scary. They were terrified.”
According to another manager, his team fielded some girls aged 16 and 17, and that caused even more issues in this matter. The parents of the teenage girls were not keen on the idea that their daughters would have to play against a full-grown 30-year-old biological male.
It would seem clear why this may be a safety concern for female-born players, though some on the left are jumping to the defense of Needham. In the end, the case seems to be resolved on the field, but the issue will likely now move to a court of law in the UK as Needham tries to force a way back into the league.
