Over the past several months, ABC News has faced substantial criticism from conservatives after it has displayed what many consider to be overt bias toward the Trump-Vance campaign. As a result, some have suggested that the news network is made up of nothing more than “propagandists” who are “working” on behalf of the Democratic Party.
ABC News has been called out for several different incidents recently, such as the controversial moderation during the presidential debate in which moderators David Muir and Linsay Davis constantly interjected, attempting to fact-check Trump’s statements. Moreover, the network has also been called out for dubious fact-checks during interviews.
Taking to social media to voice their assessment of the network, one person wrote, “ABC News are total propagandists for the Democrat Party or at least for Kamala Harris. They always give negative news about Trump but positive news about Kamala Harris, every single morning. Almost like ABC News is working for the Democrat Party.”
The American Tribune also reported on criticism against the network from former President Donald Trump in which he addressed the integrity of ABC News. “It is a totally false story that I am going to sue lightweight anchor David Muir of ABC FAKE NEWS, perhaps the worst and most dishonorable network in broadcasting!” the former president stated on his Truth Social platform.
“Despite an unfair and unethical 3 on 1, I easily won the recent Debate. My sole focus is to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump further stated. In other comments about the debate Trump said, “And during the debate, I mentioned that and David Muir, a real lightweight. I had one against three, but I think we did great. But David Muir of ABC, fake news, when I said that crime is way up in our country, he corrected me, he corrected me and so much and it was right what I said.”
He continued, “So many different— Charlottesville, she was wrong, all of the different things, almost everything she said, and she was never corrected. But he corrected me on crime. He said, ‘No, no, crime has not gone up.’ I said crime has gone up massively. He said, ‘I’d like to state for the record that crime has not gone up.’”
Furthermore, the network also faced backlash after an interview with JD Vance when host Martha Raddatz downplayed the issue of Venezuelan illegal immigrant gangs taking over apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado. During a heated exchange, Raddatz said, “Senator Vance, I’m going to stop you because I know exactly what happened. I’m going to stop you. The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes – apartment complexes and the mayor said our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns. A handful of problems.”
Vance fired back at Raddatz, stating, “Only, Martha, do you hear yourself? Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’s open border?” He added, “Americans are so fed up with what’s going on and they have every right to be and I really find this exchange, Martha, sort of interesting because you seem to be more focused with nitpicking everything that Donald Trump has said rather than acknowledging that apartment complexes in the United States of America are being taken over by violent gangs.”
