Top Republican Reverses Retirement Plans to Help Trump

A prominent Republican politician noted that he has decided to delay his retirement plans to assist leading GOP candidate Donald Trump in his efforts to get America back on the right track.  After being convinced by Trump to run for a fourth term, Tennessee Republican Mark Green indicated that he would remain in politics.

“While my strong desire was to leave Congress at the end of this year, since my announcement, I have received countless calls from constituents, colleagues, and President Trump urging me to reconsider,” Green told Fox News Digital.

Green, who serves as the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, noted that he felt called to continue fighting conservative issues such as the ongoing border crisis.  “I will be running for re-election so I can be here on Day 1 next year to help President Trump end this border crisis once and for all.”

The Tennessee Republican made the announcement just after former President Trump called on Green to reconsider his retirement through a post on Truth Social.  Trump gave Green his endorsement, praising his work in Congress.

“Mark Green has had lots of options because of his political talents, and the great job he has done as a Congressman, but given the fantastic work he’s doing as Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, I hope he runs for Re-Election to the U.S. House of Representatives. If he does, he has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump wrote.

The Congressman recently played an instrumental role in the House impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.  Green noted that his role as the Homeland Security Committee chairman has been “challenging” but simultaneously “rewarding.”  Green stated, “I am unbelievably proud of and grateful for the other Republican Committee members as well as the staff of the Homeland Security Committee.”

“I will never forget the hard work and long hours they put in to respond to an unprecedented and self-inflicted border crisis by holding Secretary Mayorkas accountable and passing H.R. 2,” he added.  Given Green’s hard work and political talents, it makes complete sense why Trump would wish to have him as an asset in Congress.  Assuming Trump wins the election later this year, the border crisis will inevitably be an issue the former president would seek to expeditiously mitigate.

Donald Trump recently visited the Texas border town Eagle Pass, where he gave a fiery speech condemning President Biden for his role in the out-of-control illegal immigration to rip through the country.  The American Tribune reported Trump’s comments during his speech, the former president did not hold back in sounding off on “Crooked Joe.”

“I call him Crooked Joe because he’s crooked, and he’s a terrible president, the worst president our country has ever had, probably the most incompetent president we’ve ever had,” he said. “But it’s allowing thousands and thousands of people to come in from China, Iran, Yemen, the Congo, Syria and a lot of other nations.”
