Tom Brady recently opened eyes and teased the sports world when he joked about coming out of retirement after pegging a drone out of the sky, while hanging out with his kids and YouTuber MrBeast. Brady was on the famous YouTuber’s yacht with his children when MrBeast challenged him to hit his drone out of the sky over the water.
Brady started warming up his arm as his daughter chided him along. When the drone was launched out over the ocean, Brady took aim and uncorked a perfect spiral, knocking the drone into the ocean. Clearly, Brady still has the accuracy and arm strength, and looked to be in top physical condition, especially for a 45-year-old.
Could Brady seriously consider coming out of retirement? Probably not, but later on he unleashed another perfect spiral and hit one of MrBeast’s friends, who was riding a wave runner, right between the numbers, or at least where the numbers would be if he were wearing a jersey rather than a life vest.
It was a remarkable display, as can be seen in the video below, and Brady looks fit and strong. However, Brady also looks content with his decision to retire, despite joking about that if he hit the drone on the first time he should “come out of retirement.”

It’s not as if Brady isn’t keeping busy. He purchased a minority share in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, and more recently purchased a minority share in the Las Vegas Raiders. His partial ownership of the Raiders would seriously complicate any attempted return to the NFL, unless it was with the Raiders.
Coincidentally or not, the Raiders are in flux at quarterback. They are counting on free agent addition Jimmy Garoppolo to guide the team this season, with the only real backup being veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer. The Raider’s new head coach is Brady’s former offensive coordinator in New England, Josh McDaniels.
While there is plenty of offensive firepower for the Raiders, they could use a boost at quarterback, and if Garoppolo isn’t fully recovered from off season foot surgery, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Brady in silver and black for one more season.
Tom also has a broadcasting deal with Fox in the neighborhood of $375 million that he is set to begin after the upcoming season. Fox had announced that Brady would be joining the booth this season, but Brady preferred to wait a year before stepping behind the mic.
The question is why? Is it simply, so he can take a year off from the sport? Likely, yes. But with the investments in the Vegas-area sports scene, and the fact that the Raiders are dangerously thin at quarterback, it simply cannot be discounted that Brady is lying low to see what happens before he nails shut what many think is a closed door.
Most players, veterans especially, hate the off-season activities, so Brady may be choosing to knock drones out of the sky and hang out with his kids until all the noise dies down. Will he seriously contemplate a comeback then? Hard to say, but he still has the arm strength, and the opportunity might be there, so stay tuned sports fans, we might get one last year of the GOAT.
