Conservatives are excited after Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) announced criminal referrals to the DOJ against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and AG Keith Ellison, alleging they obstructed federal oversight and were complicit in the major fraud scandal involving federal funds in social services programs.
In her criminal referral, Luna cited major violations of laws against conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and aiding federal offenses. Additionally, the DOJ confirmed receipt of the referrals. Her decision follows a House Oversight hearing and intensifying federal investigations into Minnesota nonprofits, child care, and Medicaid fraud. Surprisingly, Walz recently ended his 2026 reelection bid amid the scandal.
Explaining the situation, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna laid out the case, saying, “Walz and Ellison have violated two sections of U.S. Code relating to conspiracy to defraud the U.S., along with aiding and abetting federal offenses.”
“Information brought to Congress raises ‘serious concerns regarding the administration of federally funded programs’ under the governor’s authority,” she added, “the D-O-J has confirmed receipt of the criminal referrals.”
Taking to social media, she offered more details. “The DOJ has confirmed receipt of criminal referrals for @GovTimWalz & @AGEllison. I look forward to the findings of the investigation and potential prosecution,” Luna asserted. The Florida lawmaker continued by saying, “The seriousness of these concerns warrants careful and impartial review. Federal funds must be protected, federal oversight must not be obstructed, and no public official is exempt from accountability under the law.”
Wrapping up her comments with a stirring post, Luna added, “Based on testimony today, I have enough evidence to believe both @GovTimWalz and @keithellison were knowingly complicit in a Somali fraud scheme in Minnesota. Therefore I have referred them BOTH to the DOJ for criminal charges. May justice be swift. The American people are tired…”
During the testimony, which Luna mentioned, Minnesota state Rep. Kristin Robbins said, “Tim Walz and his administration have willfully turned a blind eye to crime, in the face of countless whistleblower and auditor reports, as well as stories by local investigative journalists and Bill Glahn, a fellow at Center of the American Experiment.”

Concluding his comments, the courageous politician noted, “These are actual crimes that must be punished. They are crimes against our moral values that erode trust in government. Governor Walz has known about fraud for years and failed to act.”
Watch Republicans call for Walz to face legal repercussions for the fraud:
Announcing the story in a viral social media post, a MAGA influencer declared, “BREAKING: Tim Walz and AG Keith Ellison officially criminally referred to the DOJ for investigation and prosecution over mass Minnesota fraud.’
Additionally, he quoted Luna’s letter, which read, “I am writing to formally refer Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation and prosecution for violations of 18 U.S.C. § 371 and 18 U.S.C. § 2, which govern conspiracy to defraud the United States and aiding and abetting federal offenses.”
Reacting to this post, one user noted, “This is great. But how do Minnesotans get paid back for not only the money stolen from them, but the TIME they will never be compensated for??” Another quipped, “Minnesota’s dynamic duo of deceit exposed: taxpayer theft on steroids, courtesy of the left’s finest.”
