Tim Walz Gets More Terrible News as Treasury Department Moves to Investigate Massive Fraud His “Feckless Mismanagement” Allowed

In a huge announcement posted to X, the Trump Administration Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, announced that the Treasury Department is now investigating Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and others in Minnesota’s government who allowed massive fraud to occur, which allowed Somalis in the state to fund the terror group al-Shabab with pilfered tax dollars.

As background, Somali immigrants living in Minnesota have been accused of stealing huge amounts of taxpayer dollars in various fraud schemes, with reporting on the massive fraud scheme revealing that some of the pilfered tax dollars went not just into fraudster pockets, but into the hands of the Somalia-based terror group Al Shabab.

Adding to the scandal, state employees in Minnesota have accused Gov. Walz of being intimately associated with the fraud, with a whistleblower alleging, “Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota. We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud, but no, we got the opposite response.”

Continuing unapologetically, the post noted, “Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports. Instead of partnership, we got the full weight of retaliation by Tim Walz, certain DFL members and an indifferent mainstream media.”

Investigative conservative journalist Christopher Rufo, adding to the brew of controversy on X, revealed the connection between the fraud and al Shabab, saying, “EXCLUSIVE: @RK_Thorpe and I have new reporting on America’s Somali fraud rings, which have stolen billions in taxpayer funds—and sent some to Islamist terrorists back home. ‘The Largest Funder of Al-Shabaab Is the Minnesota Taxpayer.’”

It was in response to that post that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the investigation of Governor Walz and others is happening, with the Treasury Department now digging into how Minnesota tax dollars ended up in the hands of a very dangerous terror group.

Doing so in a quote tweet of Rufo’s post, Bessent said, “At my direction, @USTreasury is investigating allegations that under the feckless mismanagement of the Biden Administration and Governor Tim Walz, hardworking Minnesotans’ tax dollars may have been diverted to the terrorist organization Al-Shabaab.”

Continuing, Bessent noted that the Trump Administration would not be tolerating this sort of thing, and that updates will come as the crackdown continues. He said, “Thanks to the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, we are acting fast to ensure Americans’ taxes are not funding acts of global terror. We will share our findings as our investigation continues.”

Commenters on Secretary Bessent’s announcement loudly agreed with him, saying things like “No only should Tim Walz IMMEDIATELY resign for allowing his state to be defrauded…But he should be investigated. There are many serious cases that could be brought against him that would send him to PRISON FOR LIFE if the allegations seen on X are true” and “People need to be held accountable for enabling such huge sums of taxpayer funds to be stolen by foreign nationals living in the U.S.”
