Dolly Parton has been a household name for many years due to her long and illustrious career in country music as a singer, along with her secondary careers as both an actress and entrepreneur.
Speaking about that success in a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Parton credited her faith with her long-term success, saying:
“My faith impacts everything that I do because I do believe that, through God, all things are possible. And so I always ask God to bless everything that I do and the people that I work with and to bring all the right things and right people into my life and to take the wrong ones out.
“So, I try to just live through love as much as I can. And so I just think that my spirituality has been a guiding light in my life and my strength, really, in my creative energy. And my spiritual energy has really been a great force to keep me going all these years and still being productive.”
Parton has also written books for young kids. Speaking about those, she said, “I want them to feel empowered. I want them to think that they know that they can do anything that they set their mind to do and that if they stick with it, it’s likely to happen. So, it’s really about confidence and standing up to bullies and just keeping on with your dream until it comes true.”
Continuing, she spoke up about why standing up to bullies is important, saying, “But I think that little kids and bigger kids are standing up to bullies. You need to kind of hold your own as well. And don’t let them get the upper hand, and you don’t have to play into what they’re doing. It’s the worst thing you can do for bullies is just walk away as if they don’t exist. You know, like you didn’t hear it, and you don’t care. Like, that’s not who I am. I know who I am. You don’t need to be telling me who you think I am.”
Continuing, she went on to say, “Whatever age I am, I remember all the different selves that were all these different ages. And here I am. I’m as much of a child today as I was when I was a child. And, as they say, maybe I’m in my second childhood, I don’t know. But I like to think more that I’m childlike instead of childish. But I just really try to keep a child’s take on things. I try to think more young, and I try to not think doomsday. Of course, I know I’m old enough to die, but I’m not ready to, and I don’t live my life thinking that. I figure I’ll go when it’s time. I hope it’s easy, but in the meantime, I’ll go to work until I go, however, that is.”
Parton isn’t the only figure who first rose to fame decades ago to speak about the importance of faith recently. George Foreman did as well, as we reported recently on The American Tribune, saying:
Before releasing his biographical film “Big George Foreman,” heavyweight boxer-turned-pastor George Foreman spoke to the Christian Post and reflected on how his faith in God and help from God has affected him throughout his storied life and shared his faith-filled wisdom with the next generation of Christians.
Speaking on that point and how he realized his calling was to preach God’s word, Foreman said, “You come to a point in your life and you realize the only important thing in your life is [to be] an evangelist.”
Continuing, he spoke about evangelism and why it is important to him, saying, “‘Evangelistic’ is the word that has been so powerful to me in my life. If something happened to me tomorrow … I know I’ve done a good job, and I’m happy about that, trying to spell out to the world, ‘Jesus Christ has come alive in me.’”
He also spoke on how people helped him through his challenging life and how he didn’t realize that until later, saying, “So many people helped me in life. I didn’t know that. I thought I was doing so much … but there are so many good people in my life.”
Continuing on that point, he added, “I was given so much advice from so many different people, and it’s a matter of trusting. Trust that people will give you advice. Listen when they have something to tell you. And I think that that is the key to all the riches in the world, is listening to people who care about you.”
