Three Arrested after Mob Attacks News Crew Doing Live Report

Local law enforcement authorities arrested three individuals after a group physically assaulted a CBS Chicago news crew near Adler Planetarium on June 29, 2026. While the crew was preparing to do a newscast, two men started yelling racial slurs at one of the journalists, then rushed toward them and attempted to direct a dog to attack the victim.

The suspects then smashed the windshield and camera of the crew’s news van. The rest of the equipment is currently secured behind police tape, according to footage that was taken from an NBC Chicago photographer. A spokesperson for CBS spoke with CBS Chicago and said, “We are shocked and horrified by this crime and we are grateful that our journalists are safe.”

Suspects involved in the incident immediately fled the scene in a white tow truck in an unknown direction. The suspects have been taken into custody by police, though charges have yet to be announced. This isn’t the first time in recent years that Chicago journalists have been attacked while simply trying to do their job. Crime in the Windy City has reached near apocalyptic levels in recent years following decades of failed leftist policies.

According to a report from The Daily Caller, a man in February attacked ABC reporter Leah Hope. The man grabbed Hope then forced her jaw open and grabbed her tongue. She suffered torn ligaments as a result of the assault. Following the incident, Hope said that the attack was a prime example of the need for the homeless to receive better support.

In 2023, a crew with Univision was robbed by thugs. One of the items taken in the incident was the camera that captured the entire incident. That same month, WGN-TV reporter Gaynor Hall, who was doing a story concerning severe wind damage, was grabbed by the shoulders by a man who then made explicitly sexual comments toward her.

The suspect in the Hall attack, Eric J. Farina, was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly conduct. The whole incident occurred during a live broadcast. Farina pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation, 100 hours of community service, a letter of apology, and $1,000 in fines, court costs, and probation fees.

Comments on The Daily Caller story point out that the increasing violent atmosphere taking over large cities across the country is largely the result of the division media outlets have sown among the American people. “Democrats and their media have made the streets dangerous. Did they think they were going to be immune to attack?” one commenter wondered.

“The MSM encouraged this type of behavior for a long time,” another said. The suspects involved in the Chicago incident were taken into custody by police after a brief pursuit ended at West 36th Street and South California Avenue. Authorities revealed that the suspects were attempting to get away from the area where the incident occurred when they were captured.
