As if the Georgia runoff results weren’t bad enough, conservative voters just got more bad news from the feckless, ever more incompetent GOP: now one of the senators supposedly on its side is joining up with Democrats to try and ram through amnesty for illegals that the Democrats will, thanks to him, get to call “bipartisan”.
That senator would be Senator Thom Tillis, who has taken up with now-independent Senator Sinema to try and ram through an amnesty for illegal immigrants bill. The Carolina Journal reporting, on what the bill entails, notes that “The deal would set out a “path to legalization” for 2 million illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children. In exchange for help for these immigrants labeled “dreamers,” the deal would pump an additional $25 billion into the federal Border Patrol and border security, according to the newspaper.”
Heritage Action, the lobbying group connected to the famous (and largely still conservative) Heritage Foundation, shredded Tillis and his machinations in a statement on the matter, saying:
“The U.S. immigration system is broken – our southern border is a raging fire of cartel-driven human trafficking, and dangerous fentanyl is flooding our communities. But once again, Congress is ignoring the human suffering on the border to instead spend their time on disastrous amnesty proposals and add fuel to the fire. Now, under the smoke screen of bipartisanship, we find two new immigration proposals: the Tillis-Sinema framework and the EAGLE Act.
“In the Senate, reports have emerged that Sen. Thom Tillis and Sen. Sinema have agreed on an ‘immigration reform’ framework that would grant amnesty to two million illegal aliens and add funding to speed up the processing of waves of asylum seekers flooding our southern border. This would be a virtual free pass to two million immigrants who have not been fully processed, and would only encourage millions more to rush the border and join the other so-called asylum seekers that have pushed across the border under the Biden administration’s control.
“The House is gearing up to vote on the equally misguided lame-duck proposal, the EAGLE Act. This proposal would add insult to injury by increasing chain migration and creating new opportunities for our adversaries, like the CCP, to take advantage of our immigration system’s obvious shortcomings. Our laws should hold the CCP accountable for their espionage and intellectual property theft, not reward their bad behavior.
“Congress must not fall for the same, broken promises of ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ that all eventually end in the promise of amnesty and a green light to more illegal border crossings. Conservatives in Congress must settle for nothing less than strong border security and respect for the rule of law. Both the Tillis-Sinema framework and the EAGLE Act fail to meet that simple standard.”
The bill was also savaged by Trump Administration immigration hawk Stephen Miller, who, responding to an attack on him with a blistering attack of his own that pointed out just why it is that Democrats want amnestly for illegals, said:
What, pray tell, is the lie? Do educate us. B/C last time I checked we’ve had 2 years of vastly more illegal immigration that ever before in all history. I would love nothing more than to end the catastrophe by forbidding Biden from releasing any illegals into US. Problem solved.
The “problem” this bill solves is that Democrats are upset illegal immigrants can’t vote, legally collect federal welfare, or benefit from chain migration. This bill solves that “problem” by making them citizens. It is the only “problem” this bill addresses.
In 2020, we solved the real problem: keeping illegals out of US. A combo of Safe Thirds, MPP, asylum curbs, Title 42, visa sanctions, etc. meant all illegals apprehended were REMOVED. Every horror we are living through now is because Biden opened the border by choice and design.
The amnesty attempt comes after Senator Chuck Schumer explicitly called for migrants to replace native-born Americans, saying:
“We have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to. The only way we’re going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the dreamers and all of them, because our ultimate goal is to help the dreamers, but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million or however many undocumented there are here. And we will be pursuing that in the next Senate.“
