Speaking during the wee hours of the morning, around 3:30 am on Wednesday, November 6, Republican CNN contributor Scott Jennings commented on the victory of former President Donald Trump, noting what it meant and attacking leftist rhetoric as the rest of the panel personalities looked depressed and glumly sat in silence.
Particularly, Jennings noted that it wasn’t just that Trump had managed to win the electoral college this time around, but that he won the popular vote, the first time a Republican has done so in two decades. Commenting on the importance of that, Jennings said, “This is a big deal. This isn’t backing into the office.”
Continuing, he noted that Trump now has a mandate to fix the issues Biden created, saying, “This is a mandate to do what you said you were going to do. Get the economy working again for regular working-class Americans. Fix immigration. Try to get crime under control. Try to reduce the chaos in the world.”
Re-emphasizing that same point, Jennings noted, “This is a mandate from the American people to do that.” Then, noting what he also sees in the results, Jennings argued that the average American wants revenge. He said, “I think I’m interpreting the results tonight as the revenge of just a regular old working-class American.”
Explaining why revenge is so desired by those of us who voted for Trump yet again in 2024, Jennings said, “The anonymous American who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to. They’re not garbage; they’re not Nazis. They’re just regular people who get up and go to work every day and are trying to make a better life for their kids.”
He added, commenting on the horrible way normal people have been treated by the Biden Regime, “And they feel like they have been told to just shut up when they have complained about the things that are hurting them in their own lives. I also feel like this election, as we sit here and pore over this tonight, is something of an indictment of the political information complex.”
And, noting how important inflation was to this election, Jennings said, “Inflation, people feeling like that they were barely able to tread water at best. That was the fundamentals of the election. And so I think that both parties should always look at the results of an election and figure out what went right and what went wrong.”
Concluding, Jennings noted that panels like the one he was on don’t know how to listen to the common person, saying, “But I think for all of us who cover elections and talk about elections and do this on a day-to-day basis, we have to figure out how to understand, talk to and listen to the half of the country that rose up tonight and said, we’ve had enough.”
