In a contentious interview with ABC’s Margaret Brennan, Kristi Noem announced that she had discovered the identity of alleged leakers within the federal government who tipped off illegal immigrants about planned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
For Context, under Kristi Noem’s leadership, DHA has started using polygraph tests and other measures to identify which employees are behind the destructive leaks. This move comes in response to several immigration raids, which leakers have compromised.
During the March 9, 2025, installment of Face the Nation, woke Margaret Brennan attempted to stump Kristi Noem. She began by saying, “You said that you have found leakers within DHS and are going to prosecute them. Back on February 9, you tweeted, “The FBI is so corrupt, we’ll work with any and every agency to stop leaks.” Were you wrong to blame the FBI if the leaks were from within DHS?”
Responding confidently, Kristi Noem said, “No, I think there are leakers all over this government. I think that everybody needs to be aware of these issues in DHS. Specifically, these two were leaking the enforcement operations that we had planned and were going to conduct in several cities, exposing law enforcement to vulnerabilities, jeopardizing those ops, and putting their lives in danger.”
Building on that point, she added, “So they will be prosecuted, and they could face up to 10 years in federal prison because they did that. Anyone who is leaking information outside of how something is planned for the safety of those law enforcement officers needs to be held accountable for that.”
Conclosing her argument, Noem explained her strategy to end the leaks. She said, “The authorities that I have under the Department of Homeland Security are broad and extensive, and I plan to use every single one of them to make sure that we’re following the law, that we are following the procedures in place to keep people safe, and that we’re making sure we’re following through on what President Trump has promised that he’s going to make America safe again.”

As we reported, Border czar Homan added his own thoughts on the controversy. He said, “We think it’s coming from inside. Some of the information we’re receiving tends to lead toward the FBI. But I talked to the Deputy Attorney General all this weekend. They’ve opened up a criminal investigation, and they have promised that not only will this person lose their job and lose their pension, they will go to jail, they’re going to be criminally prosecuted.”
In the comments under Noem’s interview, conservatives mocked the woke ABC anchor. One of the comments read, “You’d think with the mass surveillance of the NSA at their disposal & AI tracing, they’d be able catch ALL of the leakers. But then again, the NSA is probably too busy spying on citizens to bother with government employees.”
