Recently, the ladies of “The View” claimed illegal immigrants arriving in New York City should be redirected elsewhere around the country. The show has faced criticism for embodying a “not in my backyard” mentality.
Co-host Ana Navarro pointed out the stress an influx of illegal immigrants can inflict on a city. Navarro claimed that the New York City Migrants should be “resettled elsewhere” and removed from the Big Apple.
“Frankly, you know, I think we need to find and we’ve dealt with this before I lived in. In Miami. I was a migrant, an immigrant in Miami and the 80s. You will remember when we had the Mariel Boatlift 125,000 Cubans came in a matter of six months. It puts tremendous stress on a city on a community on the social services. They need to be resettled elsewhere. They need to be out,” Navarro said.

The discussion on “The View” was prompted by a video of New York City Mayor Eric Adams speaking to angry residents at a town hall meeting. Adams is unable to provide a local solution and has slammed the Biden administration for not providing enough federal assistance.
Highlighting the scale of the problem, Adams claimed New York City was receiving thousands of migrants from the southern border. “We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month … Now we’re getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
Adams highlighted how migrants are pouring into the city from all over the world, citing various countries. “One time we were just getting Venezuela, now we’re getting Ecuador, now we’re getting Russian-speaking coming through Mexico, now we’re getting Western Africa, now we’re getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
Adams continued discussing the stress the migrant crisis is putting on his city, illustrating the fiscal deficit NYC is running. “And everyone is saying, ‘It’s New York City’s problem.’ Every community in this city is going to be impacted. We have a $12 billion deficit that we’re going to have to cut every service in this city is going to be impacted. All of us.”
Mayor Adams practically conceded that New York City is “about to lose” as it cannot deal with the crisis by itself. According to the mayor, NYC has almost 100,000 more migrants than it did last year. “It’s going to come to your neighborhoods. All of us are going to be impacted by this. I said it last year when we had 15,000. I’m telling you now with 110,000. The city we knew, we’re about to lose.”

It would appear that liberals and “sanctuary cities” are singing a different tune when they are forced to deal with the real impact of unchecked illegal immigration. Busing strategies employed by red state governors such as Greg Abbot seem to be having their intended effect: forcing Democrats to admit that there actually is a crisis at the southern border. Perhaps this will eventually lead to action at the federal level.
