In a fiery Newsmax interview, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) announced that he was introducing articles of impeachment against Judge James Boasberg. Gill savaged the judge for “a blatant usurpation of the executive’s authority,” and promised to bring Boasberg to justice for violating the constitution.
As background, when President Trump sought to use the Alien Enemies Act to deport members of the Tren de Aragua gang to Venezuela, Boasberg undermined the President’s authority by blocking him. After he rose to controversy for this dramatic breach of tradition, online sleuths have uncovered a long history of progressive activism in the judge’s past.
Gill, a relative newcomer to Congress, has made a name for himself as a principled conservative and advocate for President Trump. At only 31 years old, he is the youngest sitting Republican in Congress and is characterized by an intense devotion to securing the border, ensuring government accountability, and promoting mass deportations.
Beginning his April 4, 2025, remarks, Rep. Gill summarized Boasberg’s usurpation. He said, “This is an activist left-wing district court judge who decided to take it upon himself to act as Commander in Chief of the United States and demand that President Trump bring a plane full of Tren de Aragua alien terrorists back into the United States.”
Building on that point, he explained how republicans are moving to correct the imbalance. Gill added, “That is a blatant usurpation of the executive’s authority. I think that it does warrant impeachment, and I’ve been very clear about that for the past several weeks. But listen, I’m on the House Judiciary Committee. It is chaired by Chairman Jim Jordan.”
Continuing his explanation, Gill laid out the plan to remove Boasberg. The Republican stated, “We’ve got the speaker involved as well. There are a variety of remedies that we can pursue to push back against activist judges, just like Judge Boasberg. One bill that we voted out of committee a couple weeks ago was [a] Congressman’s …bill, which would stop district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions.”

Concluding his argument, Gill hammered away at Boasberg. He orated, “I think that that is a great start for us. I’m going to continue pushing impeachment, but I’d like to see that ideally run through the committee, and that’s what we’re hoping to see. But listen, there are a variety of things that we can do here.”
In the comments under this clip, users quickly pointed out the woke judge’s hypocrisy. One of the comments read, “Articles of impeachment were filed by Texas representative Brandon Gill against activist judge Boasberg. These judges need to be removed. The judge is not the commander in chief and must adhere to the Constitution as written.”
Other comments were pessimistic that Boasberg would be impeached. One of the replies read, “Brandon is doing the right thing, but it won’t accomplish anything. Impeachment is impossible with this Senate.” Another reaction said, “We’re really liking Rep. Gill. This is a start. I don’t think it will go anywhere. I personally believe these judges are conspiring with the DNC and they should be disbarred and charged with sedition.”
