In some absolutely awesome news for the MAGA movement, Republicans are now starting to receive labor union support thanks to Teamsters union President Sean O’Brien, who has repeatedly sounded off on the Democrats for their long-term abandonment of the working class, and as a result is backing Republican candidates in battleground states.
Such is what has been revealed by records related to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ Democrat, Republican, Independent Voter Education (DRIVE) PAC. According to reports, the DRIVE PAC has, in this off-year for elections, already doled out tens of thousands of dollars to Republicans.
Importantly, the DRIVE PAC exclusively donated to Democrats for about two decades, with the 2024 election cycle marking the first shift away from that stance and towards one of embracing candidates who will actually help its members. Now, this is the second election cycle in a row in which the Teamsters’ PAC has backed Republican candidates.
In fact, the DRIVE PAC has so far donated thousands of dollars to the National Republican Congressional Committee, along with tens of thousands of dollars to just under two dozen Republican candidates, such as New York Republican Reps. Nicole Malliotakis, Andrew Garbarino, Nick LaLota, and Mike Lawler.
Speaking to Politico’s Playbook about the matter, Teamsters union spokesperson Kara Deniz said, “Our members are working people whose interests cut across party lines.” Continuing, Deniz explained, “And there’s no value in living in a bubble … where you only talk to certain people to the exclusion of others.”
Teamsters Union President Sean O’Brien commented on the matter as well. Speaking to former journalist Bari Weiss on her “Honestly with Bari Weiss” on Tuesday, August 12, O’Brien said, “Where the Democrats lost … they fell in love with their captors. They fell in love with big money. They fell in love with Big Tech.”
Continuing, he noted that the Democrats have, as a result, started ignoring working Americans. He said, “And they forgot who they’re truly representing: working people. You know why? Because they’re not in their communities, not in their neighborhoods. They’re not talking to the people that they’re paid to represent.”

Then, commenting on how the social justice matter has left those who fights for behind, O’Brien said, “Look, this whole election for the Democrats was based on social justice issues, right? And it seemed like this narrative of the social justice issues, it didn’t identify with our members. Our members identify with more money in their pockets, more job protection, better pensions.”
The NRCC pushed a similar message. NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella said, in a statement commenting on the Teamsters matter, “Hardworking men and women across the country are rallying behind Republicans up and down the ballot because we fight for their jobs, their families, and their future.”
Adding to that, Marinella said, “Democrats have abandoned them for their deeply out of touch, radical policies.” He further noted, commenting on GOP strategy, “These voters are key to holding and growing our majority, and we plan on doing everything we can to keep earning their support.”
