Following President Donald Trump’s move to revoke Dr. Anthony Fauci’s security detail, the internet has erupted with reactions to the news. Many conservatives agreed with Trump’s decision, noting that Fauci and other who had secusrity removed were not entitled to it. Furthermore, some joked that Fauci’s security should come from prison guards, suggesting he should face legal punishment for his role in controversial pandemic protocols.
Former congressional candidate and political commentator Michael Cassidy weighed in on the news, posting to social media, “I think Fauci should have a security detail. That security detail should be the guards at a max security federal penitentiary, for the rest of his life.” Another person quipped, “Pfizer or Moderna can pay for his security. No need to burden the tax payers.”
Reacting to the news, conservative commentator Rogan O’Handley, better known as DC Draino, wrote on X, “Some media are upset Trump is taking away taxpayer-funded security from Fauci, Bolton, and others Remember when Biden denied RFK Jr. protection? Remember when Trump got shot and had a bunch of 5’5” women “protecting” him? These people deserve everything they get”
Another person called out that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was denied security, writing, “I don’t feel sorry for them; they’re all loaded and can afford their security using their ill-gotten gains. Denying the Secret Service for Kennedy was a deliberate attempt to put his life in danger, especially given the history of Kennedys running for office.”
One user agreed with the move, writing, “Trump is right. They have the money to pay for their own security. I will fo further by saying that beyond the sitting president and vice, we shouldn’t pay for any security.” Similarly, another person said, “Take it away from every single one of them if they have left government service. Personally I had no idea that these people had government protection on the taxpayer dime. Only the VPs and past Presidents should continue their protection details.”
The American Tribune recently reported on President Trump’s response to Fauci having his clearance revoked during a recent press conference in Western North Carolina. Trump told a reporter, “I think you know, when you work for government … at some point, your security detail comes off, and you know, you can’t have them forever.”
He added, “So I think it’s very standard, if it would be for somebody else, you wouldn’t be asking the question.” Trump emphasized, “The question is very fair, but, you know, you work for government. We took some off other people too, but you can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government.”

Furthermore, the president maintained that he bears no responsibility if something bad were to happen to Fauci in the absence of taxpayer-funded security, pointing out that he had enough money to afford private security. “They all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security too. All the people you’re talking about, they can go out, I can give them some good numbers of very good security people. They can hire their own security. They all made a lot of money. Fauci made a lot of money,” he said.
