It has been a tough few years for America under Joe Biden. The economy has flailed, the border is wide open, the world is on the verge of war, and Biden continues to decline in real time. Predictably, blue states have suffered under liberal leadership while red states have thrived. Illegal immigration, sky-high taxes, insane regulations, and spiking crime have hamstrung states like New York, Michigan, Minnesota, and California, and residents have fled as a result.
For the Golden State, the situation continues to decline almost daily. San Francisco is covered in human feces, Los Angeles is rife with drugs, crime, and homelessness, and Governor Gavin Newsom just unveiled a plan to extract even more wealth from law-abiding citizens to pay for free healthcare for illegal immigrants. For California, unless you are illegal or a Chinese Communist dictator, by all appearances, the state doesn’t care about your well-being.
Predictably, those who can leave are. Not just individuals, either. Industry and stores have left the inner cities as smash-and-grab crime and retail theft have made it nearly impossible to keep a store open. Residents are heading out as well. Not just everyday folks, but even the rich and famous decide that life might be better elsewhere.
One would think Hollywood and the elite would be insulated from the crime and lawlessness so pervasive in California, but they aren’t, and they are leaving in droves. The list of celebrities leaving California for a safer, better life in a red state is impressive. It isn’t simply conservative celebrities like Dean Cain and James Woods, either. Mark Wahlberg, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani Sylvester Stallone, and more have moved out of Southern California.
For Wahlberg, the choice was an easy one. he recently talked about life in Nevada. He said: “It just has the best of both worlds. I know a lot of people, when they think Las Vegas, they think the Strip. But just about 15, 20 minutes away, there’s a whole lot of other amazing areas that are all about family and community.” The “Other Guys” star also continued: “There’s lots of opportunity here as well for me. We’re trying to create a studio. We’re trying to build the shoe factory. We want to create lots of jobs here.” Wahlberg isn’t simply looking to live in Nevada, he wants to actively contribute to his new community.
For Stallone and his family, they sold their Los Angeles mansion to Adele in 2022 and moved to the Sunshine State. Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, is a San Fernando Valley native and, despite her love for California, reports being very happy in Florida. She said: “I was born and raised there, two of our kids were born there, but now everyone’s out, our daughters moved to the East Coast… so there wasn’t really anything left for me in California. A few of our best friends also moved, so I think it’s [a] good change, just making new friends, living a totally different lifestyle, I love it, I’m really happy.”
Flavin hadn’t lost her love for California, but she realized that it was time to move on. She continued: “I think California is probably the most beautiful state in the United States, I absolutely love it, but I just needed a change. I felt like I’ve been there long enough, and life is short, so I wanted to make a change and not just be sitting in one house the rest of my life.”
It doesn’t look to get any better for California anytime soon. Celebs are taking their tax revenue out of state, as are businesses, even as Gavin Newsom gives more handouts to illegal immigrants. In the meantime, more A-list celebs and everyday people are likely to head to red states in search of a better life.
