“The Base Is Behind Bongino”: Dan Bongino Gets Good News from MAGA as Feud with Bondi Over Epstein Files Release Escalates

Things have taken a turn for the more explosive inside the Trump Administration, with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly threatening to resign over the Epstein files debacle unless Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he views as being responsible for the disaster, is fired. Now, it is being noted online that Bongino is backed up by most of the MAGA base, potentially indicating good news for him and that the Epstein files will be released eventually.

As background, Pam Bondi’s DOJ created the explosive situation by releasing a memo in which it claimed to have examined all the evidence available and found that there was neither a list of Epstein clients nor a blackmail operation. As that is unbelievable and stands in stark contrast to what Bondi, Patel, and Bongino were earlier claiming, MAGA reacted with outrage to the news.

The situation then devolved from there, with Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton going on air to claim that there is an Epstein list and it is being covered up, and Rep. Burchett similarly claiming that the Biden Administration’s agents hid what list there was or evidence of blackmail there was before handing over the files to Trump’s people.

Now, Bongino has reportedly threatened to quit over the situation unless Bondi is fired first. Such is what DOJ-focused, MAGA reporter Julie Kelly took to X to cover, noting that the explosive situation is very real and that most evidence indicates that the MAGA base is firmly on Bongino’s side in this fight.

Beginning, Kelly noted that while the dispute has been ongoing, with Bongino seemingly wanting the DOJ to take a harder and more pro-MAGA line, it blew up with the Epstein debacle. She wrote, “Sources confirm to me the blow up between Dan Bongino and Pam Bondi is very real. This has been brewing for four months and came to a head at the White House on Wednesday. He has not been in the office since.”

Continuing, Kelly explained how the Epstein information rollout apparently frustrated Bongino immensely and led to the crisis point in the split between him and Bondi. She said, “Most of the frustration at FBI relates to her handling of Epstein disclosures and disputes between FBI and Bondi about how to proceed. Bongino appears ready to resign imminently if Bondi remains in office.”

Kelly further added that while AG Bondi’s predicament is to be expected given how corrupt the DOJ is, the MAGA base is firmly behind Bongino. She said, “There is no question that the base is behind Bongino. I respect Pam Bondi and understand the immense challenge at taking the reins of such a systemically corrupt agency.”

Additionally, she noted that the sort of self-inflicted wounds represented by the Epstein chaos are a major problem for the Trump Administration, and that more needs to be done to rein them in and ensure the agencies responsible for the messes are controlled and changed for the better. She said, “But the self inflicted wounds and unforced errors are consuming attention away from other DOJ/FBI achievements. Time is ticking away and something drastic needs to change immediately.”

Concluding, Kelly noted that the issue is certainly a challenging one for the White House, but Bondi will need to go sooner or later because the base is infuriated, and keeping the better-liked Patel and Bongino seems to be the better choice. She said, “Very tough call for White House right now. I don’t see any way Bondi survives this long term, the base won’t tolerate it. So do they lose Bongino (maybe Kash?) in the short term and her in the not so distant future? Or do they rip the bandaid off now and let Kash and Dan do their thing with a new boss.”
