The GOP race is in full swing, and former president Donald Trump holds commanding leads in nearly every major poll. Not only does Trump lead all of his Republican competitors, he also leads Joe Biden in nearly every poll in every swing state. Recent Colorado decisions kicking Trump temporarily off of the ballot underscores the Democrat’s panic level with the General Election a little less than a year away.
As Trump continues to gain steam, the left continues their assault on the GOP favorite. Despite that, the 45th President continues to pick up endorsements from Republicans and celebrities as more folks appear to be fed up with what Joe Biden has done to the country. One of the most influential media personalities, if not the most influential, is former Fox host Tucker Carlson.
Carlson has been critical of Trump at times but still backs the former president in his quest to take back the White House. Recently, on the wildly popular Timcast podcast with host Tim Pool, Tucker talked about the upcoming election, President Trump, and the one reason he wouldn’t vote for Trump next November. Carlson holds considerable sway over American voters, and his endorsement could potentially mean a great deal.
Carlson’s name has previously been floated as a potential running mate for Donald Trump, and while he has politely declined, he still has some ideas about who Trump should or shouldn’t tab as his running mate. One name in particular that made Tucker bristle with disapproval is Nikki Haley. The former South Carolina Governor has been critical of Trump on the debate stage, and some of her policy positions have rubbed other Republicans the wrong way. For Tucker, Haley is a non-starter.
When asked by Pool what he thought about a Trump/Haley ticket, Carlson said: “I would not only not vote for that ticket, I would advocate against it as strongly as I could.” Carlson minced no words when discussing the former South Carolina Governor. He continued: “That’s just poison. I mean, here’s someone who’s actively opposed to the interests of the country I grew up in, who endorsed the BLM riots, and who is not left, but is neoliberal in the darkest, most — speaking of nihilist — nihilistic way, and has no real popular support, is a creature of the oligarchs. So yeah, that would be — that would be reason to oppose the ticket.”
Watch him here:
While it would appear that Haley has irreparably burned her bridges with Trump, tabbing a strong female may seem attractive to the former President as he attempts to lure the white suburban housewife demographic that he lost in 2020. According to his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, nothing is off the table. She said: “Crazier things have happened. I don’t know. I would never say never with Donald J. Trump. Never say never.”
It is unlikely that Trump will pick a neocon like Haley as his running mate, and if he did, he would lose important endorsements from people like Tucker Carlson. That being said, the situation bears watching as the primaries approach, and whoever he picks will go a long way toward cementing his frontrunner status in 2024.
