“That’s Fake News”: Trump Adviser Exposes, Calls Out Another Media Lie

Speaking in an explosive interview with Fox News Channel’s Jesse Watters on his eponymous show, “Jesse Watters Primetime,” White House trade adviser Peter Navarro obliterated a report from Politico in which the woke political news outlet claimed that he was being sidelined by the Trump Administration.

As background, Politico reported in the wake of the tariff explosion that Navarro had been sidelined in favor of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick. Navarro, in his comments to Watters, claimed that the Politico report was entirely fabricated by the media in a clear attempt to cause controversy.

Speaking of the Thursday, April 10 Politico report just hours after it was released, Watters characterized it as saying that Navarro was in the “doghouse” and then asked the economic adviser if it was real or fake news. He said, “The media says you’re in the doghouse with Trump. Is that true? Or is that fake news?”

Navarro laughed and sounded off on the report, saying that the Trump team this time around is united in favor of taking strong action. He began, “That’s fake news, Jesse. I would say this about this team that I’m working with. I mean, it’s radically different from the first term when we had a lot of people fighting and had disparate voices, and every time the boss wanted to do something, there were people wanting to hold him back.”

Continuing, he explained that the current administration has a great many talented people, all of whom have unique skill sets and knowledge bases that complement each other. He said, “We have a unique set of skills here. Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick come from the outside. Scott knows the equity markets, Howard Lutnick is a great dealmaker, knows the bond market.”

Building on that, Navarro discussed Trump Administration Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, explaining that he has decades of trade deal-related experience that will aid the Trump Administration in revamping American trade policy. He said, “Jamieson Greer has 30 years of experience cutting trade deals.”

Further, Navarro rounded off that part of the discussion by describing some of the other main players and how they are helping, saying, “And then we have Kevin Hassett. He’s a dual threat because he does trade in the tax policy. Stephen Miller is doing a great job behind the scenes, and J.D. Vance is doing a beautiful job helping everything move along.”

Contrasting that with the first Trump Administration and how the people in it, such as former Vice President Mike Pence, had no idea what they were doing on the trade issue, Navarro said, “It’s a radical departure from Mike Pence, who was a nice guy, but he did not know anything about the core issues.”

Then, commenting on how it all fits together, Navarro said, “So I think the American people, 90 trade deals in 90 days, you are in great hands not just with President Trump who is the Commander in Chief and the Chief Dealmaker, but with the people involved. When we need help, we go to Marco Rubio to deal with some of the diplomacy issues. When we are trying to sell LNG [liquid natural gas] to Japan, we break out Doug Burgum.”
