Vice presidential candidate JD Vance recently offered a brilliant rebuttal to a reporter who attempted to twist his words and attack the Trump campaign. Turning the question around, Vance drew attention to more pressing issues that Americans are concerned with, such as the rampant illegal immigration that has occurred under the Biden-Harris.
As former President Donald Trump and his running mate have been incessantly attacked following comments during the recent debate claiming Haitian migrants are eating cats and dogs, the reporter pressed Vance on the topic during the campaign event.
“We talk about creating stories so the media pays attention to people suffering, but when those stories aren’t necessarily verified by fact, are you saying those things because you’re really just trying to gin up the base or are and I guess my question is, are you guys..” the reporter asked to which the crowd booed the question.
Addressing the reporter’s question, Vance maintained that the media has blatantly lied about the topic, suggesting it was the result of Vice President Kamala Harris lacking substance in her campaign. “The media has lied and misrepresented this, and so, of course, is the Kamala Harris campaign. Because Kamala Harris noticed she’s not wearing on substance,” he said. “She’s just wearing on dishonesty. She doesn’t have a record. She can defend herself.”
Addressing criticism of his recent comments about “creating stories,” Vance blasted the assertions that he and Trump are pushing fictitious accounts. Instead, the Ohio senator explained they are simply focusing people’s attention on lesser-covered issues in the mainstream media that people are concerned about.
“What I said is that we create media stories. In other words, we focus the people’s attention on what’s already going on. Do you anybody really think? I challenge you. Go to Springfield, Ohio, which has been overwhelmed by 20,000 Haitian areas,” Vance said.
“Go to any community overwhelmed by Kamala Harris’s illegal alien policies, and tell me that these are stories made up by politicians. These are stories that people have been living for months, or, in some cases, years. The only thing that Donald Trump and I did is highlighted and focused on some of you guys stop recording,” Vance added.
Trump’s running mate then blasted the media for “aggressively fact checking” and dismissing the concerns of the Springfield residents, who Vance represents. “I think it’s a little bit rich that the media wants to aggressively fact check every single thing that the residents of Springfield are talking about. These people have been suffering for months or even years,” he said.
