Even as the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice comes after him for building a floating border barrier in the Rio Grande, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is escalating his fight with the federal government’s border policy by building a Texas border wall and ordering law enforcement officers to “remove” those immigrants that enter Texas illegally.
Texas began Operation Lone Star to defend its residents from the deleterious effects of illegal immigration. Under the program, Texas built a border wall in the El Paso area, shipped tens of thousands of migrants to woke sanctuary cities, constructed a floating border barrier in the Rio Grande to stop illegals from making their way across, and has deployed the National Guard to defend the border.
Gov. Abbott then took another, even more dramatic step by ordering the removal of illegal immigrants. Posting about that order on X (formerly Twitter), Gov. Abbott said, “Illegal border crossings hit ANOTHER record high for September. Texas will use every tool available to respond. I called Special Session #3 to criminalize illegal entry & authorize licensed law enforcement to remove immigrants who enter Texas illegally.”

That came after another post in which Gov. Abbott posted a video of the TExas-Mexico border wall being constructed and captioned it by saying, “Texas is the first – and ONLY – state in U.S. history to build our own border wall.”

Commenting on that post, enthusiastic commenters said things like “Do not stop If the next State wants and is willing let’s Keep going. Texas will create jobs and cycle economies by building for us all” and “Keep up the good work sir! Need to protect our people.”
In another post about Texas’ border wall, Gov. Abbott wrote, “Texas installs fencing along NEW Mexico border. Our barriers around El Paso forced the migrants crossing illegally to enter into New Mexico. They then entered into El Paso from there. To end that, we are building a barrier on the New Mexico border.”
He also wrote, in yet another post on the border wall subject, “Texas is the only state in U.S. history to build our own border wall. While Biden refuses to secure the border, Texas has stepped up to protect our state and our country. I added funding for even more border wall to the agenda for Special Session #3 of the Texas Legislature.”

And, in a press release on the success of Operation Lone Star in interdicting deadly drugs like fentanyl, Gov. Abbott said, “Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to over 476,200 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 35,100 criminal arrests, with more than 32,000 felony charges reported. In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Texas law enforcement has seized over 432 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this border mission.”
The press release added, “Operation Lone Star continues to fill the dangerous gaps created by the Biden Administration’s refusal to secure the border. Every individual who is apprehended or arrested and every ounce of drugs seized would have otherwise made their way into communities across Texas and the nation due to President Joe Biden’s open border policies.”
