Texas Finds Thousands Of Illegal Aliens on Its Voter Rolls

In a significant win for the GOP that also shows the scale of the potential fraud issue, Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced that a SAVE database cross-check had identified 2,724 potential noncitizens registered to vote in her state. Reacting to this news, she announced that 254 counties will be performing reviews ahead of the 2026 election.

In her comments on the matter, she explained that these reviews must be performed in the next 30 days, removing non-responders and referring confirmed illegal voters for prosecution. Building on this point, she noted how the Trump administration’s free database access was a “game changer” for election integrity.

Beginning her remarks with a clear moral claim, Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson declared, “Only eligible United States citizens may participate in our elections.” Describing how Trump enabled this major discovery, she noted, “The Trump Administration’s decision to give states free and direct access to this data set for the first time has been a game changer, and we appreciate the partnership with the federal government to verify the citizenship of those on our voter rolls and maintain accurate voter lists.”

Adding to her previous remarks, she made the stakes clear, saying, “Everyone’s right to vote is sacred and must be protected. We encourage counties to conduct rigorous investigations to determine if any voter is ineligible – just as they do with any other data set we provide.”

Chiming in with his own take on the voter roll issue, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “These reforms have led to the removal of over one million ineligible people from our voter rolls in the last three years, including noncitizens, deceased voters, and people who moved to another state.”

Still not done, Abbott made the high standards of security in his state known, a fact potentially buried under the bad news that illegal aliens had been on the voter rolls. “The Secretary of State and county voter registrars have an ongoing legal requirement to review the voter rolls, remove ineligible voters, and refer any potential illegal voting to the Attorney General’s Office and local authorities for investigation and prosecution. Illegal voting in Texas will never be tolerated,” he said.

Concluding his comments, the courageous governor made it clear that his state will lead the nation in election safety: “We will continue to actively safeguard Texans’ sacred right to vote while also aggressively protecting our elections from illegal voting,” explaining that Texas is “leading the nation in election integrity.”

Based on these shocking revelations, Jane Nelson promised to enforce violations of election laws. “Gaining access to this database has been a game-changer. Not only have we been able to identify individuals who should not have voted in the last election, we have also been able to confirm naturalization of dozens more,” the Texas secretary of state said.

Bringing her remarks to a close, she said that this investigation will continue. She stated, “We are in the early stages of this pilot program, but we already see promising results. This may be the most current and accurate data set there is when it comes to citizenship verification.”

Concluding her remarks on the massive task it is to keep the voter rolls secure and free from fraud, Nelson added, “The SAVE database has proven to be a critically important data set and one of many that we will continue to use in Texas to ensure that only qualified voters cast a ballot in our elections.”
