Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Texas recently arrested a man identified as the “leader of a hitman cell,” the Cartel del Gulfo, often described as one of the oldest criminal syndicates. Authorities nabbed the suspect in San Antonio, identified as an illegal alien associated with the cartel.
Reports indicate that on February 6, the 36-year-old Mexican citizen was arrested for being in the United States illegally. During his detainment, authorities discovered the man’s prior criminal history which includes felony conviction for possession of marijuana and illegal entry. Upon further investigation, it was discovered he was the leader of a sicario cell.
Homeland Security Investigations San Antonio broke the news on X, writing, “@HSI_SanAntonio, in partnership with our law enforcement partners arrested a member of the Cartel del Golfo. @HSI_HQ is committed to strengthening our borders and protecting our communities from harm.”
The official United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) congratulated the HSI San Antonio, responding, “Incredible work by ICE San Antonio special agents who identified this convicted criminal alien as the leader of a hitman cell for the Cartel del Gulfo Mexican criminal syndicate.”
“This enforcement action is part of our relentless fight against violent cartel members who have little regard for the law and degrade the quality of life in our communities,” HSI San Antonio Special Agent in Charge Craig Larrabee said in a statement. “Our ultimate goal is to get these cartel members off the streets of South Texas and ensure they face justice for their crimes.”
The American Tribune recently reported on comments from Trump administration border czar Tom Homan, who illustrated the Trump administration’s commitment to removing criminal illegal aliens who pose a public safety threat. During an interview on CNN, host Kaitlan Collins pressed Homan, but he remained firm, rebuking her with facts.
Collins said, “What we had heard from immigration advocates is that this is going to provide a chilling effect to parents and the school drop offline or something of that matter.” Homan immediately said, “It should be a chilling effect. Unless your child is a terrorist or a public safety threat.” Watch the interview with the border czar below:

“If they are a public safety threat and national security threat, they should be chilled. They should be afraid, because we’re looking for them,” Homan maintained. Collins argued, “If their parent is here and they’re an undocumented immigrant, I think was, was more of the argument that they were making.” Homan said that anyone breaking United States law is liable to be held accountable. “They’re not off the table either. If you live in the country illegally, they got a problem. I mean, it’s not okay, to enter this country illegally,” he said.
“It’s a crime, and that’s why supposed to be I wouldn’t feel comfortable if I’m in Switzerland illegally,” Homan emphasized. “So we’re going to enforce the laws of this country. So you know, the schools and the churches and sensible location was a policy only for ICE only for immigration, right, but national security threats and public safety, does have no safe haven in this country and we’ll go where we’ve got to go.”
