Texas AG Paxton Acquitted by Texas Senate, Reinstated as AG

Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas just won a big victory on Saturday, when he was acquitted by the Texas Senate in his impeachment trial and was then immediately reinstated as AG by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick of Texas, with Paxton pledging to take the fight to Biden in a letter announcing the good news.

The acquittal came when the charges against AG Paxton were brought to the Texas Senate to be voted on and a majority of the Republican-dominated legislative body voted to acquit on each of the charges. When it was down to four impeachment articles, the senators voted to dismiss then and adjourn the sessionl

Paxton’s letter began by celebrating the fact that the truth had won, saying, “Today, the truth prevailed. The truth could not be buried by mudslinging politicians or their powerful benefactors. I’ve said many times: Seek the truth! And that is what was accomplished.”

In the letter, he also unleashed on the Biden Administration, telling it to buckle up because he’s getting ready to deal some damage and start fighting back with a vengeance. He wrote, “Now that this shameful process is over, my work to defend our constitutional rights will resume. Thank you to everyone who has stood with us during this time. Finally, I can promise the Biden Administration the following: buckle up because your lawless policies will not go unchallenged. We will not allow you to shred the constitution and infringe on the rights of Texans. You will be held accountable. I will next address the nation and Texas on Tucker Carlson next week. Now it is back to work!”

Gov. Greg Abbott posted about the matter on X (formerly Twitter) as well, saying, “The jury has spoken. Attorney General Ken Paxton received a fair trial as required by the Texas Constitution. I look forward to continuing to work with the Attorney General to secure the border and protect Texas from federal overreach.”

Gov. Abbott will need AG Paxton’s fighting spirit, as he has not been cowed by the Biden Administration’s demands Texas dismantle its water border barrier and instead announced the expansion of Operation Lone Star in a recent statement,

In that statement, the governor said, “This is a day of reckoning for the United States to realize the liberal policies of open borders will not work in this country. The [remain in Texas] policy should be one mile further across the Rio Grande. It should be ‘Remain in Mexico,’ not ‘Remain in Texas.’ That policy has been tried in the past, and it was legally stricken down. We have a lawsuit ready to go that will eliminate this threat by Joe Biden if he dares try to pull the trigger on it.”

Senator Ted Cruz joined Gov. Abbott in congratulating AG Paxton, posting, “Congrats to @KenPaxtonTXon being acquitted of every single article of impeachment. This was the right outcome, consistent with the will of the voters. I look forward to seeing Paxton back in office, continuing to serve as the most effective conservative AG in America.”
